Blimey, look at how many bids this car has had, can it reach the magic £1K. A few years ago we would all have laughed out loud if someone wanted a grand for a 1600 petrol auto, but now with so few being left on the road & the demand seemingly quite high, then the predicted values have risen :D FWIW, i think even at that sort of price its good value seeing as its in lovely condition, hopefully it will get looked after rather than ragged to death like so many before it.

Well the more it fetches the more chance of it finding a loving home, as you say Mulley who would have thought a few years ago a low mileage BX 16 would this kinda money. Thing is now BX's are rare anyway, and in this condition and mileage even more so.

..Considering I could have bought it for half that if I'd had the money at the time... it's a great result - congratulations Ian!

Now a couple of years ago that would have probably struggled to sell for more than £400, so thats an excellent result. Shame it had to be sold for the reasons Ian's already mentioned, hopefully that'll help with things. I'm only 10 miles up the road from you Ian, if theres owt you need, just ask mate.

In 2007 when this car was up for grabs originally he struggled to give it away.

Great result and worth every penny I reckon. I just knew these cars would become rare and collectable classics one day. CX prices keep going up and up - I expect the BX will do exactly the same?

Right then guys,

Here's the good news. This lovely car is up for grabs again! :o

The main reason is that I really haven't been able to get on with the auto gearbox. Secondly, I still have one too many BXs and I did think I had sold my St Tropez, but unfortunately, the person who won it on eBay hasn't honoured the deal (you know who you are) despite persistent promises to complete over the last five weeks. In that time, I have had the chance to compare and contrast the two cars and I have come to the conclusion that I prefer driving my manual BX14. Some of you may think I am mad, and you are probably right, but in any event, I have decided to keep the St Tropez and offer the 16TXS out to members of the BXClub.

I have done about another 500 miles and she is coming up for 43000 miles. All the other details listed by Ian on the original post apply.

I am looking to get somewhere near what I paid for her, so any reasonable offer in that region will be given consideration. PM or email me if you're interested. Whatever I get will be ploughed back into finishing the restoration of the St Tropez, so look on it as a doubly good cause.

This is the original listing:

If I don't hear from anyone on this site I will have to open it up to the great unwashed on eBay.

Shame you have to sell so quickly, persnally I love the auto box but its each to their own of course. I would try www.carandclassic.com. always useful.

If your in the CCC you could put an add in their mutual aid.

Absolute shame Tim, I agree. I know you know the car well. and it is still immaculate throughout. I also know it will be almost impossible to find another BX in the same condition. However, that doesn't change the way I feel and I simply haven't been able to get into the mindset of driving an automatic - I guess I'm getting too long in the tooth to make the transition, especially while the BX is sharing driving duties with my Mazda. Ironically, I've stalled that at junctions a few times because I have had my BX auto head on and omitted to push in the clutch.

It's all too much for the neighbours, who have been very patient waiting for my fleet to diminish in size, but they are probably sticking pins in a doll by now, so I've had to bite the bullet and make a decision before a horse's head appears on the doorstep.

I'll probably be looking to list it by the end of this week if there aren't any firm offers from BXClub people.
