I went again, the 77year old man told me he is sorning the car and keeping it! I told him about the double deposit and wanted to double my money, but what I wanted was the car and told him to keep them

so there goes my first and may be the only attempt of owning a hydro citro

thanks for the feedback folks. will update if I find another cheap one.

Any maltese folks here btw?

It came back with me to England. I'm not sure how I'll do it yet if I move there full-time. Maybe I'll drive one back to UK then drive a different one to Malta every 6 months. That way they can stay on UK plates.
