Rev Counter Fault

Post by kiwi »

So the new addition has a fault with the tacho and when I picked it up the previous owner said it does not work, well all the way home it di not but yesterday it worked and today it dont again.

So I read this http://www.bxclub.co.uk/diy/rev/ and now going to ask if that would cause the Rev Counter to work all be it briefly? Or would tearing out the cluster head be more prudent to see if a plug loose?

I've seen 4 failures of the sensor on XUD cars - all of them started off as intermittant, so my money would still be on the sensor. There seemed to be some correlation between temperature i.e. more likely to work when cold.

/\WHS.
Every diesel tacho fault I'ce ever come across (and it's been many) has always been the sensor rather than the tacho head itself.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
