Dear All.
I have decided for the mean time anyway to open a blog for the car, so
that other people may benefit from some usefull tips, or more hopefully
some enthusiasm and inspiration to help them look after their cars better
and hopefully enjoy working on and keeping their cars to the highest
standards, whilst still enjoying it too.
The first thing I like to do is polish the car, to as new as possible, the
way I do it is to clean each panel so that the only marks that are left are
either scratches or stone chips, everything else is removed from the cars
paintwork including oxidisation and tar, this does help if like me you have
long strong fingernails. This is done to the whole car including the windows
inside and out, a stanley knife blade does get the bottoms of the windows
where the rubber trims meets the glass. for glass headlamps with lots of
old dead flies, wirewool and t-cut does a good job.
Then I like to do the same thing to all the door apertures and the door
frames, the tailgate aperture and the talgate. Then underneath the bonnet
itself and then the engine bay to the same standard.
I have found that after polishing the outside of the bonnet has a cloudy
pigment to it, so I will have to get someone to wip over it with a buffer.
After having done most of that, I am still doing the engine bay still.
I took the out today for the first time, which was really lovely, however
upon my return I noticed an LHM leak from the drivers side of the front
subframe, so I have removed the LHM tank, to stop me losing all the
fluid over-night, I have now jacked the car up and put it on axle stands,
I have traced the leak to a small rubber pipe that has perished, at the
back of the front height corrector.
Anyway thats me for today anyway.
Take care.

Dear Paul.
At school they used to call me Mohammed Farley, paper-weight
champion of the world :) If I was to have stepped outside today, I would
have been blown to Margate
I thank-you Paul for your kind request for some photo,s  but as
yet I haven,t taken any photo,s and neither have I ever loaded any
photo,s onto any forums yet, so this is going to be a real test.
The car is sat on 4 axle stands at the moment, and is not showing off
her best assets
The parts and 5 litres of LHM are on thier way, with the kind help of
Martin at Plieades today, I have booked her into Plieades today aswell
to have all five spheres renewed and to have both if the rear radius arm
bearings lubricated at £ 20 a side, as she has only done 47,000 miles
from new.
Where abouts in Newark are you Paul ? I used to live in Lincoln since
I was 8 in 1969 for 40 years.
What cars do you have then Paul ? do you show any of them ?
All the best Paul and nice talking with you  and keep in touch,
I will take some photo,s over the weekend hopefully but I may take me
a while to download them, but I will persist, if not my wife can help me.
Vince.

Are you typing this using an iPhone or something? Wondered why it\'s all in such a narrow margin!

Thread is worthless without pics! :D

Hi Vince,

Posting pics seems like a bit of a nightmare to begin with but not that difficult with a bit of perseverance. You'll need to get a 'photobucket' account (which is free) and if you go to their site they will talk you through it. Have a go and as soon as you hit a problem ask away and we'll sort you out. (hopefully!)

My car is a TZD Hurricane, which I was VERY lucky to have offered to me when my previous car (also a Hurricane) was 'gathered to God' via a Vauxhall at a Milton Keynes roundabout. Best not to ask me about my car or I'll get out all my photo albums and bore you senseless (no one has THAT much spare time!!! :D )

I hope the repairs to your car are going well and look forward to seeing some pics.

Dear F R. Ted.
Thanks very much for your very kind reply, I am sorry I am a little late with my responce, but although the rubber return pipe that I had
to renew was only 5" long, it was a real sod to get to, on the front
hieght corrector. with a new pipe and new LHM and a niffty adjustment
of the hanbrake while I had all the wheels off and power washing and
scrubbing of all the wheelarches out, she is now back on level ground
and the system bled and road tested she is fine now.
Ever since watching Bullitt I have always given my lot girls names,
such as Sophie SAAB I have had her for 12 years now. Fifi Farina for the A40 I had for 24 years, now in a farm yard and not mine now, and
of cause Eleanor which was my copper Sunbeam Rapiier fastback coupe,
which I had for 12 years too, my white CX was called Concorde by the
previous owner, so I hung onto that and called her Concorde Mach 2,
which I am keeping for the BX to as she is white aswell.
I did have a beige 1979 GSA that I bought in 1983 for £ 700 and a
1973 bright red firenza which was ace in bright red.
I shall try to put some photo,s this week.
all the best and keep in touch OK.

Dear Kitch.
Hi-ya Kicth, thanks for your reply too, what is an Iphone ?
No I am using my HP computer, I don,t know why the words sometimes
go right across the screen once I submit them, and on my computer I am
typing right across the page ? If I go any further across the page it automatically starts the next line. I am only a novice at all of this.

Are you pressing Enter at the end of each line? If so you don't need to; the forum software will do that automatically depending on everyone's different screen sizes.

You only need to press Enter if you want to start a new line or paragraph.

ahem ,
Milton Keynes has just the right number of roundabouts thank you,
much better than loads of traffic light junctions causing stop start traffic and queues,
the traffic flow is far superior to that of many other large towns.
I crosssed from junction 14 of the M1 to my home on the west flank in under
7 minutes this morning ,
would have been 6 if the first two roundabouts haden't got traffic lights on them.

Hi Vince,

Er, no. A plastic bucket won't do. I'm beginning to suspect we havn't actually got to first base with this photo posting thing yet have we!? :D 'Photobucket' is a website that will host your pictures for you and then link them to the forums here. If you do a 'google' search; 'photobucket', it will come up at the top of the search results. Click on it and go to the website. You can then set up an account and it will talk you through uploading pics. Have a go, and see how far you get. If you ask me what a 'google' is I'll come over there and photograph that blummin' car myself - the suspense is killing me! :D Good luck!

Paul

p.s. I'm not sure if Milton Keynes has too many roundabouts but there was certainly one too many for my poor old Hurricane!

Dear All.
Firstly I am so sorry that I am a little late replying to everyone, but on the 13th my 9 year old HP computer crashed, losing all my USERNAMES
and my PASSWORDS aswell  and I couldn,t remember them all in their entirety, so I have had to change a couple of my PASSWORD.
My daughter took some photo,s of the outside of the car, before I could
say that I wanted some of the boot shut and the door shuts and under the
bonnet, she had already loaded them onto her computer ready to transfer
them soon, maybe this weekend.
I have cured the LHM leak, but unfortunately it is now has a tiny leak
from the front subframe about 6" from where the first one was. so she
is back on stands again now.
Anyway must dash.

Dear Susan.
I am so sorry about my comments about M K, but I know when I used
to visit M K I used to only be crossing the M 1 ( with only doing two
" SS,s, as apposed to your doing three SSS,s which is alot further, then
I would have got to your house and had a cuppa coffee and cooked tea
before you would have been halfway home.
Many Thanks. Susan.
