safely back from our holiday in Kent, took the meteor out for a run, started straight away and once I pumped the tyres up (got a slow puncture n/s rear ) she drove beautifully. Hopefully (if it stops raining ) I will fit the splitter I got from Bill O

during the week leading up to the Xrally I got around to fitting the splitter, 6X9' s and front fogs,(just got to get around to wiring up the last two), the car drives beautifully now although the tick over has crept up a bit,
Vanny found a bleed valve was loose by the thermostat which may explain the water loss and the bottom hose to the oil filler cap housing was a bit crushed which he also sorted,
The meet was great and so was the journey home.

drove 30 miles ti a ciurt case yesterday where I was a prosecution witness, just pulled into the car park when I got a phone call to say the case was now being heard on a dufferent day without witnesses being required, I reckon the dozy drug dealer finally decided to plead guilty 21 months after being arrested.

today has been a very good day for me , four good part worn tyres to replace the almost slicks I was running on and a few boxes of spares with one or two very pleasant surprises.

I did indeed , just need to work out the safest way to extend the petrol return pipe as the garage cut it down when they fitted the exhaust manifold stud in it.

cheers for that,
In one of the boxes was two front headrests in the right material ( the rear ones I had were not quite right )so I have spent a couple of minutes cutting down the pillars and now have two perfectly matching rear headrests ,
Havent even checked two of the boxes but parts include a spare carb, dizzy, coil, alternator, lights pipes and god knows what else

sounds silly but I think my water loss problem may be down to a loose rad cap letting water past, motor factors supied it using the cars reg, its the right pressure but just seems loose. Wondered if it was worth trying to bend the lugs in the cap to make a tighter fit.
Also in one of the boxes is an HP pump that looks in very good condition but it seems to have a bit of a weep at the pulley seal, are the seals replaceable ?

The fit should be determined by the spring and not the wings, bending them in will just make it harder to get on and off i imagine.
PM me your address on the other side and i'll post you some of my extensive collect of rad caps!
P.S. If you get one from a more recent PSA product, they have plastic covers, much easier to remove when the car is over heating, not that you should do that of course, that would be stupid

Ha, nope! I had a car full of college mates and got laughed at, and my corsa 1.2 spi had overheated. Went to look in the expansion tank to see if there was any oil etc and got a facefull. Worse thing was, couldn't get the cap back on until most of the coolant had removed itself. Turned out to be a faulty temp gauge... Those were the days when I was more ignorant about cars than I am now (as in I was completely ignorant!)

My temp gauge normally tells me the engine is running 100 to 110c, closer inspection with calibrated thermocouples in flow has told me the temp gauge is a complete liar by 20 to 30c!
