well the kia is in the garage again ( fourth time now) after the cambelt fiasco it broke two injector pipes and we disccovered the bottom half of the engine is 2003 and the top half 2005,
coming home sunday night and the check light came on accompanied by a loss of power, seems the cambelt isnt moving and theres no compression.
whatever happens its going so today we bought a stop gap.

meet big pug

I'm inclined to agree - get something that's reached the bottom of its depreciation curve and it's difficult to go wrong!

106 serviced , well plugs, fuel filter oil change and antifreeze ( no air filter as it has an induction kit )
406 has had new plugs and stepper valve , oh and a new centre exhaust section and cat, so drives like a new car,
just got to do the oil change, antifreeze and fuel filter on that now

Oil change done on the 406 now, it was really easy everything accesable from above,
K&N fitted ( thanks Mulley )
Just taken the door trim off o/s rear door as the check strap was knackered, love the hydraulic bonnet supports on the pugs and the fact the 106's bonnet opens almost vertically.
Still tempted to buy a Renault 5 though

Do it Mick, you don't need two Peugeots do you?? I rather like R5's too, especially a red one with the grey countershade on the bottom of doors/wings etc. Or you could get a turbo :D that would be a fun school run car!

yeah its not bad , has a hesitation issue sometimes but is never undriveable , have serviced it except the fuel filter which I have but havent fitted yet .
Not sure what to replace the kia with , peugeot 807 seems to tick a lot of boxes , for some reason the C8 looks tacky in comparison ( at least the ones I have seen do )
then theres always the ugly but very robust ssangyong rodius to consider

I'd be wary of a Ssanyong - A mate at work has a Musso, and while it's a very capable and reliable car, when it does need something that parts can take up to 5 weeks to arrive!

Fair comment Mike, parts have been an issue with the KIA and the Hyundai.
Anyone know anything about the Mazda 5 or the slightly bigger Mazda mpv ? I know they are ford linked

Hi 'BigBoy', how are you keeping ?

There was a 'Mazda 5 SPORT' (MY 2005 but with 2003 private plates) on E-BAY which Sold recently for only £1750 (As I was looking a larger estate/MPV for a friend, now sorted) !

However it seems to be RE-LISTED as the sale fell thro' as can be seen by the intended purchasers NEGATIVE feedback left from the uncompleted sale !

The seller (Mobile money ltd, a national finance company) specialises in 'vehicle in finance repossessions' so the prices seem fairly reasonable but perhaps the descriptions are not so :!:

Therefore be aware and if the Mazda 5 is of interest, maybe call them (tel:- 01614060587) or ask them the question as to why the previous listing fell thro' ?

Good luck !
