Think I made the same mistake on the LUK clutch I bought off eBay for the TZD, it looked like a reconditioned one and slipped. £80 later a barnd new valeo one in a sealed box did the trick.

The clutch I have is a brand new Valeo in a Citroen box from Malcolm Lockwood - it's booked in with Shaun to get done next month along with that bit of welding. My lovely Hurricane deserves it! :D

Mine was deffo a new luk & not reconditioned, but i know from previous posts that some members don't like LUK & conversly some don't like valeo. I've bought a couple of new clutches over the last few years as they were going cheap, both were valeo & deffo not re-conditioned.

It depends, get Shaun to have a look at it, if he thinks its ok then you could get it fitted especially if you're not planning on doing much mileage in that car. I would need to make sure i've got a decent clutch, as mine is a daily doing upwards of 12k a year.

Can you tell if a clutch is any good just by having a look at it? I was planning to use it for the TGD at some point - the clutch isn't brilliant in that but it has loads of life left in it yet - maybe I'll have won the lottery by then and be able to buy a Valeo one. :D

Valeo clutch kit for my petrol was around 80 including postage. In some ways the easiest as they give you the centreing tool in the kit and a bit of grease for the splines FWIW. Worked fine to get good assembly. Least the flywheel face was like a mirror after 4 years sitting outside and not running...

Yes, if its poor quality it will look like it, also the amount of friction material as well is an indicator. It could still work absolutely fine though, just depends how much shaun charges you for fitting it, you can then guage if its worth taking a small risk on a car which won't get used much?

I would wait and buy a Valeo one. It will cost more having to change it again than the difference in clutch price. Trust me I know!

Anyway - moving on from to clutch or not to clutch, I put the 'invisibly' repaired tailblazer on my TGD today. I agree with those who think they're a right pain in the arse . . . but they look so nice. 8)

I've got to get a power steering rack on that car - parking it is a bloody nightmare. :(

What a lovely car, silver does seem to be quite popular at the moment!
