I do have a spray gun and compressor, but it struggles to hold pressure - it's a very cheap one on which the pump overheats if used for more than short periods. I'm certain there will be alternatives in aerosol form ideally, I just need to investigate more and possibly make a trip into civilisation! The RAL7016 is too light so I'm not going with the original supplier any more anyway.

I think I've managed to find a supplier of aerosols mixed to order - I'd previously found quite a few but none who listed a satin finish, just gloss or matt. Now this place gives me a 4th option of semi-gloss! Too many choices for my little brain, although I'm still thinking satin. Difficult to judge without samples though.

Tricky one Mat. My own cars have the black surround and it is not far off almost full matt, and I would go with the Satin option those guys give. Not having the grey 7021 finish it's hard to tell. Sprayed/mixed loads of semi-matt stuff to simulate plastic spark textures and just steel work finishes. Mainly it is done to hide very minor imperfections like spot welds etc but also to hide later minor 'use' marking to help it look good longer.

Another reason for not getting anything too glossy then!
For future reference, I reckon RAL9011 is a good match for the unfaded areas on the two darker (hatchback) doors I have. Might be useful to someone. I'll report back on what the paint seems like once it arrives.

I have found that mixing base silver and 9011 gets very very close to Platinum grey. I'm sure there is the merest hint of another colour but can't quite fathom it. Probably need to put some colours next to it to enhance contrast. As much to tell me which ones are not correct :D .

I would use the 9011 on my own window frames maybe with a little more base black. 9011 is pretty close and the slight sea green tint in the black (of 9011) would work well against red and the possibly red/lilac tint of Platinum grey. I use it inside my acoustic guitar bodies to cover the internal lining area - carbon back but the lining is timber. Also as a base for putting the 'brand' on  which I do with gold rubdowns.

Couldn't be 100% certain whether 9005 was the better match, depending on the light. There's more to this colour matching business than you'd think!

If you end up buying the 6 cans, I may be interested in the rest for Timex. Otherwise I'll keep watching this thread with interest.

Got the 7021 from the link I posted up, so no need to get the 6 cans. Had a few hours without rain this afternoon, so did a rough and ready spray along the top of one of the door frames. Colour match is spot on, and so is the sheen :)

That's excellent news Mat. A good reference for colour and sheen ie 30%, which I think is the measurement of either the reflective or refractive index. Bet the black ones are same Satin level too.

Here's a quick photo - one coat and zero preparation. The only 'masking' was a piece of card held up to the window!

All I need now is a couple of dry days so I can do a proper job, otherwise I'll have to evict the Disco from the workshop and do it indoors. But I much prefer working outside - better light and less claustrophobic.
