We have booked some hotels and B&Bs at the overnight stops on the itinerary as I don't do camping - if anybody else would like details please let me know...

I'm in the process of confirming the 1st nights camping accommodation in Hawick. We WILL be overnighting at the Applecross campsite. As we're going to be travelling off peak we should be able to find suitable campsites on a ad hoc basis and failing that, there are plenty of places to partake in some 'wild' camping.

Please hilary, I dont mind camping but wont want to do it for 7 nights, so will probably get a cheap room somewhere etc along the route.

On the camping front, if you fancy communal cooking facilities I've been offered a cooker top and sink from a folding caravan a mate's dismantling - he's near Wigton so I'll be collecting it either on the way up or back depending on whether you think it's worth taking. let me know in good time as I'll need to sort a gas bottle and regulator.

Mark, I'll pm you, although my bank doesn't like me much at the moment!

That sounds useful Mike, eating isnt a major issue as there will be shops/restaraunts etc, just finding somewhere to shower/shave etc is, the facilities at the ICCCR were just about bearable.

First nights camping at Riverside Caravan Park Hawick 01450 373785. They need a deposit of £30 which I'm willing to pay as long as I get it back, which I'm sure I will. Does everyone want me to book for this place.

Also we WILL need to pay for the booking at Applecross Campsite 01520 744268. Obviously the longer we leave it, the less of a chance of securing a pitch. Cheers Mark.

Yep, go ahead and book the Riverside at Hawick please - I can add my share of the deposit to the sticker money, or pay you when I see you if it would make things too complicated otherwise.

I see we can book at Applecross on line here - http://www.applecross.uk.com/campsite/bookingforms.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - I assume it's easier if we all do this ourselves?

Crap, I have to get organised. I'm in for B&B every other night or so so I can shower etc, will someone PM me the list please? I'll look at this tomorrow (job application won't write itself).

Getting too organised takes the fun out of it - when the rest went off to their hotel last year, I found a lovely car park sheltered all round by trees to park up the car, cook up a meal then finish painting the front wing before turning in for the night.

I must admit having to get the Westons to rebuild a driveshaft for me 3 days before setting off was cutting it a bit closer than I like though, but not as close as I have cut it!

Cheers for replies guys. I think it will be easier if we book Applecross on an individual basis. I'll go ahead and book the pitches at Riverside in Hawick. With finances as they are, I'll be kipping in the car!!
I'll speak to the printers tomorrow and get the stickers made up. Tim, Sandre, I presume you want a set of stickers each?

Owing to a change in personal circumstances (should become clearer at some point in the future) I won't be able to do this trip.

Shame as I've never really got to proper Scotland, only the odd touristy bit. It's also a PITA have tackled the rear end rebuild in preparation for the trip oop waaaaaay narf.

I shall be watching the progress avidly though, assuming y'all keep us up to date!

That's a shame Vanny. I must admit I've been very close to throwing the towel in on several occasions due to lack of cash, but I'm too stubborn to admit defeat. I'm sure you'll be able to follow our progress via FB.
