Generally, I'm not a violent man and not given to swearing in anger, but honestly - someone wants a fucking good hiding! That is just wanton destruction without rhyme or reason. I have a red BX drivers door - will take a while to sort out, not sure the condition is quite as nice as the one you've just had twatted and the trim will need swapping over. Can't imagine it will be more than 20 quid. PM me if you're interested.

I don't think in reality our Mark would even recognise a 'Glock' if it fell from a seventh story window onto his big smiley cat loving head! 8)

Wasn't actually intended as a statement of intent. IIRC a Glock is a form of bell isn't it? 8)

It's just an indictment of society, that someone's prized and hard earned possession, is seen as a legitimate target. Last year I'd only had my DS3 for a couple of months when some toe rag vandalised the rear wiper and drivers door mirror. As Paul has observed I'm a big softie, but sometimes it makes the blood boil.

The only trouble with actually having a Baseball bat in your possession (i.e. if you were to keep one within your vehicle) and were stopped/searched by the 'ole Bill' with a Baseball bat in your car, it would take a bit of explaining the reason or purpose of carrying it ?

Image

However, with the ABOVE dual purpose one, I'm sure you'd getaway without having to explain yourself too much !

Edit:-I picked the above one as its shows it fitted to Citroen, heres a SIMILAR ITEM but cheaper !

To use something like that you need someone to hit though.

Anyway, thanks for the messages of support. Just need to source a door now, several leads, nothing concrete yet, some very kind offers too.

How easy is it to fit a door anyway? If I am travelling to pick one up, would anyone be in to
lending a hand, time permitting, in exchange for beer tokens?

Many thanks.

It will depend if you have to change the innards over! By far the hardest part is doing it on your own. Tried in once, with all manner of lumps of wood to support the door, didn't go well. After that, unconnecting all the electrics and pulling them out of the existing door can be a bit of a fiddle, you need to pull out one connector at a time, rather than all at once.

I'd recommend the first step being to disconnect the check strap (think this best done at the 'car' end rather than the door end), it gives much much more room for fettling stuff out of the old door, but be careful it doesn't wrap round and kill your wing as well!

I find that dropping a loose fitting allen key into the hinge holes while you're holding the door makes the job a lot easier solo. You can then put the proper hinge pin into the hole while the door is still being reasonably well supported by the allen key. Hinge pin removal kits make the job SO much easier, especially removal.
