VNDs 14TGE *MOT PASS!* 22/10/12
Just a few snaps as I've just just gotten my hands on her.
1990 14TGE, 160k (which I somehow missed/ignored on the ebay listing).
Havnt done anything with it yet, gonna start cleaning tomorrow (its ridiculously filthy inside and out), then switch a headlight out and off for an MOT.
It drives really well for its miles. No smoke, box is tight, pulls well in every gear, clutch is good, brakes are spot on.
Looks like its had its share of MOT welding, havnt poked much further yet.......ulp!

That really is a lovely colour . With a bit of fettling and tidying that has the makings of a very nice looking car indeed - good luck with it.

Re: VNDs 14TGE
I wouldn't worry about the mileage too much if there's no major issues mechanically - if they've been maintained they can do that and more easily.

When bumpers are black, I usually use linseed oil. The fronts blue and the back is mismatched. Any tips? other than repainting. Im not repainting.Tim Leech wrote:Great colour! Get those bumpers sorted and she will look amazing!

Looks nice. Sadly, don't think there's 'owt you can do but repaint. Or find a replacement in the right colour. Not a common BX colour though - which is silly as it really suits them!

My plan: Ignore.
Unless I can ever find replacements.
I'll better spend my time improving areas with more easily resolved issues.
Like the drivers window that has conniption fits when you try and close it.

This is good info my friend!Tim Leech wrote:I gave Ian Fearn a olympic blue rear bumper 4 years ago which he hasnt used.
Is "Ian Fearn" his user name?
If so, I'll attempt a pm/purchase/improvement!

Re: VNDs 14TGE
Probably need a new window regulator. I need to fit one to mine (it came with one happily) as raising the window sort of goes CLANK, CLANK, CLANK in a most unpleasant manner.
I wouldn't stress too much about the cosmetics for now though. A service and some rust-proofing are higher on the priority list really. At least bumpers don't rust!

I would normally agree. But having taken the bugger to an Albanian car wash today, and been blasted in the face with high pressure jet-water because I couldnt get the window closed untill I pushed it up with my hand, I feel its more urgent. As do my retinas.Dollywobbler wrote: I wouldn't stress too much about the cosmetics for now though.
I think theres teeth missing somewhere, as it wont close. Just gets near the closed position then judders and drops one million times. Will only close if you push it up with a palm while pressing the up button.

Re: VNDs 14TGE
Inspired by DollyWobblers mint interior, I set about giving mine a clean.
And by "giving mine a clean", I mean I spent a full day hoovering, scraping, wiping, scrubbing and swearing.
And you know what?
After all of that, it looks pretty much 2% better. Bugger.
It seems shes been used by heavy smokers and wet dog owners for all or most of her life, so I broke out the Fabreeze too.
I used a full bottle of the stuff on the seats, carpet, headlining etc and that at least made a massive diffference.
Cars a much nicer place to be now. Which is nice.
Some photos which mean nothing as I forgot to take "before" shots.
It also seems the inner window trim from my drivers window is missing.

Anyone got a spare?
It was raining a bit much to be cavity waxing, but its still on the To-Do list....
