You can buy a weld on boss for not very much, drill hole, weld on. Just dont fit it onto the top of your pipe, the lambda sensor is normally 80mm or so long!Tim Leech wrote:.I will need to fit the insert for a lambda probe though.

You might want to hang on to the HP pump, unless you've found a way of driving a BX pump on it?Tim Leech wrote:I will shortly be removing the Xantia HP pump
Surely using the Xantia 6+2 and binning the woeful FDV is the way ahead?

Is that easy? not wanting to make it overly complicated.
Will the existing BX plumbing not be transferrable from one XU to XU?
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Read back a few pages . . .
I think i have the PAS adapter i commissioned Pleides to make up, if i can find it you can have it for the £30 i paid, but personally i preferred the 'weld an old connector to a new connector' method!Vanny wrote:Just need to adapt the BX steering rack to take a ~6mm feed. Fortunately most Xantia racks have a pointless adapter on the rack which gives you a starting point. Then just weld a ~3.5mm connector from a standard BX pipe onto the back of it. When i did the first one we just welded the hole lot up (with stick) and drilled a hole back through. You'll need the original Xantia pump to PAS pipe, which has several flexible sections (or make up a new pipe from scratch).mat_fenwick wrote:Vanny would be the one to ask about that, as he did that several years ago IIRC.you can graft the Xantia LHM pump and pressure regulator system into a BX
You cant (to my knowledge) fit a BX pump onto a CT engine, partly because there is no take off on the cam, and partly because I believe the ML cog box doesn't have the holes for the bolts.

is all the bracketry interchangable though? Not paid that much attention to CT lumps, but I'd have thought mounting the pump bracket may not be as easy as it sounds..

Re: BX 2.0 CT Turbo, it begins....
No idea as to whether its totally different or not, but some of it might be the same or at least it'll give you an idea of how much fabrication of the engine bay you'll need, just a thought.
If an oil cooler is fitted to the xantia then i'd say yes, otherwise i'd say no as usually with oil coolers they are fittted to highly tuned cars that are being used for racing or trackdays, neither of which i guess you'll be doing & i wouldn't call a 150bhp engine particularly tuned at 2 litres capacity.

Although many people worry about cooking the oil, you don't want to go too far the other way and over cool it, which would lead to high fuel consumption and wear.
If there's no oil cooler fitted and you have doubts, I'd look at fitting an oil temp guage, even if it's only temporary, so that you can monitor things until you have it all sorted.

Re: BX 2.0 CT Turbo, it begins....
My experience with this engine in an Activa is that the oil stays really cool - the Activa has an oil temp gauge. It certainly runs cooler than my 16V and lots cooler than the Visa GTI's engine.
