All the best with the stand application, we could all be taking over the show with Citroens as we've had a flat four stand approved!

Between my Broadband going down this week, and the lurgy, I'm several days behind catching up on emails etc, but have found out that we have a stand confirmation

We have a 9m x 4m stand to display in, plus I have all sorts of interesting health and safety and stand facility forms to go through.

They have asked if we have a theme for the stand, so any thoughts would be welcome (I wondered about 'a BX for every driver', with models from both ends of the range on display), as well as any offers of vehicles for the stand. Please note that any vehicles on the stand have to get there between 11am and 7pm on Friday 19th, and will have to stay there until at least 4:30pm on Sunday 21st.

I'd also like volunteers to man the stand, including whether you'll be coming in your BX, as there's classic parking on site and they will set aside a Club parking area for us if there's enough coming.

Any thoughts, offers, criticisms etc. will all be greatfully recieved (when I can next access the net )

Put me down for shifts on-stand. Probably just the Sunday but I can confirm nearer the time.

Theme is a tricky one. It usually only seems to be the Landcrab club and Moggy Minor club that really go to town on a theme.

I can offer a BX, either the GT which really should be on the road by then as I am aiming to use on a french holiday we've booked in March, or if preferable the TXD turbo. I can also offer to man the stand for a day, and would probably need a BX parking space (depends on logistics etc). This'll be my first event in the south west, and the first one (potentially!) with a BX of mine there - how exciting!

As per a theme, the BX for every driver sounds like a good idea, but may be difficult in reality. I suppose we could do the economy driver (n/a diesel, 14), the performance driver (GTI, TD), the comfort driver (16/19TRS or TZS) and have stats/pictures/car tests comparing other rival cars - obviously with the onus on how the BX is better! How many cars do we think we have space for?

Interestingly the GS Section & Flat Four Forum of CCC have taken a FOUR car stand and are trawling for cars in December 2012 Citroenian.......

Yep, this next year there should be 3 Citroen stands at the show, as there has been a 2CVGB presence there for almost every show since they started in the Watershed in Bristol back in the 80's. There were a few years when there was also a presence from the H Van Register of the CCC, but this is the first time I can remember 3 different stands at this show!

Tom has the same idea as I have about 'a BX for every Driver!' I have to check, but we should have space for 3, maybe 4 cars and I was thinking GT/GTi/4x4/valver, an RE/RD or one of the special editions like a Leader, then something in between. Ideally I'd like 1 to be an estate, and 1 to be a MK1 so that we can show the greatest range available with the least number of cars, and also ideally different vehicles to those that were at the NEC, although this will all depend on what's available at the time.

I plan to be there all weekend, including set up day regardless of what (if anything) I have on the stand. I've also aquired another display unit (in case my mate's is in use), which I will be learning how to use this week hopefully. It's one of those expandinng rod jobs, which seems to take up very little space, I just have to work out how to fit posters etc. to it.

With PL on the agenda have we got any idea of a typical of typical quotes?

I think I may have said earlier up thread (if not, it'll be on the NEC thread) that it might be worth looking at cost of a whole year's insurance vs insurance for 2 events. Obviously we won't know about NEC until April/May, but I suspect that paying 2 lots of PL would be more expensive than a whole year - plus having the full year also gives us the option of participating in other events/exhibitions which may require it at no extra cost.

NEC last year was £66 IIRC - Ian (Dollywobbler) arranged it so will be able to confirm (and provider).

As Secretary of the Veteran-Cycle Club, One of the tasks I have is organising the Club's Insurance. We have used NFU Mutual for the past few years as (for us at least) they give us the best value for money for the cover we need. We have to pay around £1800, but this includes 3rd party liability for events, product liability, employee liability (for covering volunteers marshalling events or using club Property) and insuring all the Clubs assets, including a large collection of bicycles worth anything up to a few thousand each, several computers, trophies from the victorian era and a large library of documents and books, some of which dates back over 150 years!

I doubt I'd have time to check before the new year, but I can ask what public liability cover for a club like ours is likely to cost. We should be able to provide some sort of details of membership Nos. by looking at active accounts on the forum, as Club size is a factor, as is the size of events we organise and attend. Would we want cover purely for displays / parades, or would be want to cover non competitive road runs aswell?

Don't bother with road run cover. As long as we're not timing it or racing, our own insurance policies should cover us. We want as little as we can get away with really or the premium will be ridiculous.

RE: Shepton Mallet: I will attend both days using the BX as transport. And will be available for stand rota between BX stand and GS/Flat Four stand if Entry Tickets on offer.
RE: PL: I have doubts about any substantial outlays. We have no organising committee, no Treasurer AND most important no DEMOCRATIC decision making process. We thrive without them and I think I like it that way.

I totally agree with Eoin's sentiments, but will check out the possibility of cover, if nothing else so that we have the details to hand should the question come up again in future.

Entry tickets are definately on offer - from past experience we generally get a couple per car per day, plus a few extras for helpers etc. The down side is that they don't actually give them to you until the Friday so you usually end up leaving envelopes of tickets at the entry gate.

I agree with Eoin too - all I'm suggesting is that we find out what costs of one year are vs cost of single event. If there's like a fiver or a tenner in it, then I think it's a no-brainer and take the risk that we may not get the stand at the NEC and just get the whole year's PL rather than running the alternative risk of having to ask people to donate twice and paying (in total) nearly double the amount for two single events. I can't imagine that PL for 'stand only' type stuff would be anywhere close to £1800.

Sandre, totally with you! I suspect however that show organisers themselves may have access to the best rates, The NEC was really good value in retrospect.
