Agreed - since it has been fitted to a valver - where is the HP pump on the valver ?the mountings for the HP pump.
Despite Andy having gone off on his Christmas hols, the guy who shares his workshop space gave me the number of his tame gearbox repair man so I called him and had a chat. There's some good news and some not so good.
Firstly, there are apparently many different castings so the concern about the HP pump mountings remains.
Possibly good news... the symptoms are similar to those caused by the gearbox running out of oil so I've grabbed a couple of litres of 75/80 and I'll probably get to check the level / try to fill it after Christmas. I was told it is a very slow fill so I'll try to make up a long tube to fit to the bottles of oil. I've also been told that the oil doesn't get all around the gearbox immediately once it is filled - apparently it needs around a 12 mile trip to move the oil around the box. It would be nice if the problem was just an oil seal - hopefully a more simple job.
That's the sort of potential problem that I'm sure is in the back of Andy's mind but he can't quite remember it - since the probable donor box and the car are from the same year I think we'll be ok on that one.are there not two types of actuation on the be3, push or pull on the clutch?
