Southern Rolling Road & Tech Day - end Feb/beg. Mar
Remember this?
Kitch has kindly offered a rolling road day to BXClubbers and FCF (if anyone is able to promote this event "over there" I'd be grateful as I don't have a sign in, and it feels wrong to sign up and immediately start advertising!- thanks - please link that thread here/this thread there if you do that, cheers ).
Facilities will also be made available for other small jobs (oil changes much easier on a ramp ...)
Proposed dates are Sat 23 Feb or Sat 2 Mar, depending on when most people express a preference. Cost £25 for the RR session, which is at cost - see linked thread for more details on what it's all about/what you get.
I'm about 2 hours from Fareham, but happy to be the half-way point for folks from oop north who would like to go, and have space for up to 4 people on the Fri/Sat nights, maybe 5 if you don't mind a) the floor b) being cosy.
I've probably forgotten something essential (last couple weeks have been hellacious busy), but apart from a big thanks to K for offering this again, can't think what, so "discuss" and I'll change the rules accordingly if I remember something vital ;P

I'm probably a no unfortunately, due to impending redundancy. If situ changes, then I'll be a possible definite.

Re: Southern Rolling Road & Tech Day - end Feb/beg. Mar
I'm on the way to France on the 2nd, so would very much prefer the 23rd. Now here's the question, could I get the GT on the road by the 23rd feb if I got my backside in gear? Probably.
Could potentially offer a double bed and floor space too (space for a couple/two that don't mind sharing/one who does mind sharing, and 4 on floor), depending if this falls on a weekend when uncle Michael is staying over. We're in Yeovil (somerset) so 80 miles away still, but maybe handy for those coming down the M5?

Nathan's birthday is on 1st March and although I'd dearly love to come down I don't think I'd be doing my role as mum properly if I abandoned him for the weekend! Hope we are able to arrange another tech day in the spring that I can get to.

I am around on the proposed dates so am a definite possible too. I wanted to have a go last September too but nothing seemed to happen.
In the unlikely event that my Hurricane is on the road again then it would be an ideal time to set up the diesel pump and Turbo properly.
BXing obliviously into oblivion, obviously.

I'm free the 2nd, but don't let that influence the decision if it'll be of more benefit to people on the other date.

Re: Southern Rolling Road & Tech Day - end Feb/beg. Mar
Thanks to Sandre for organising this. She's much better than me at this sort of thing!
Should be a good day. We've got a two-post ramp and a four-post ramp. If anyone wants to make use of the facilities I need to know IN ADVANCE (our workshop is pretty cluttered at the best of times). I'd also request people bring their own tools.....we have a few communal ones, but most are the property of staff.
For those who haven't read about it before, the rolling road is a good chance to have a play with the cars and assess the current health/output of the engine. It's seen as many as a way of gaining bullshit pub horsepower figures and then banding them around. It will tell you how much power the car is putting out (it'll also estimate what the engine is dishing out, giving you something to compare with the brochure ) but more importantly it highlights any issues that aren't obvious on the open road.

Have you ever experienced the fun of setting up suspension height? Because my car has been in rather desperate need of adjustment since i got it 12 years ago! This might just tempt me 'over the edge'Kitch wrote:We've got a two-post ramp and a four-post ramp.

Ha! I tried it with (I think) my red 16v on some drive-up ramps once. In theory it'd be easy to do on the four-poster. I reset an Activa on there the other day.Vanny wrote:Have you ever experienced the fun of setting up suspension height? I can make either of these two dates but I need to plan which one but March 2nd would be preferable... Have we come to any conclusions?
