I agree, i just find it a bit boring reading about the various models on different years & the only difference is the colour of the stripe. It would be handy to have a definitive model list, along with a spec list that everyone could refer to, but i guess it's probably too much work. Just a suggestion, i just hope we don't get back onto wheeltrims again, haha...

I think it's yet another sign that our cars are becoming classics - I've seen it with 2Cv's and all sorts of other motors, where they go through a stage where spec, colour, non standard modifications etc. are less important then keeping the cars on the road and tidy, and if you find a better spec interior or better dash you bolt it straight in. As the cars leave this territory to become classics, then getting them correct for the model becomes ever more important.

Land Rovers have done the same - when my Series 1 was rebuilt in the 80's it was upgraded with a series 2 back axle and LWB master cylinder, 2a gearbox, LWB series 3 front axle and a series 3 2 1/4 diesel engine fitted with 2a ancilliaries. When it was done it was actually worth more than a standard series 1 because it was seen as a more practical vehicle. Nowadays it's worth possibly 1/2 what an original vehicle in similar condition is, and most that were similarly modified have since been rebuilt back to original spec.
