Just getting various documents together ahead of the Challenge I checked over my insurance certificate and as it looked as if the cover is only third party I contacted my insurers who confirmed that was the case. To get fully comp cover I need to pay an additional fee (£29.00) - might be worth you all checking that you have the level of covert you think you actually have.

Good point. And tell them you're going on holiday to France, too. Similarly if you intend to use a credit card there, let them know too.

Sorry that I won't be taking part in this years challenge. I'd just like to wish everyone taking part the best of times. I'm sure you'll all enjoy yourselves immensely. Bon Voyage. :)

Is anybody else hotelling rather than camping? I have now managed to book hotels for the stopovers – in some areas many hotels were surprisingly fully booked…

Only on the Gien - Espalion leg given that that seems likely to be a rather arduous drive. We found a room quite cheaply as part of this monastery in the pretty village of Saint-Come d'Olt: http://www.espaceangelemerici.fr/FR/Hot ... ccueil.awp

And of course the hotel in Falaise.

Well I would have been if I was still coming. But a recent disaster with a building project (my builder has had a heart attack) at home has left me being unable to get away.
I am seriously disappointed that I cant come along. Especially as it would give my GTi a chance to prove herself by not actually breaking down again on the third Challenge.

Good luck to all who are going on the Challenge 2015.

You'll be missed :( But we'll take lots of pics so we can really rub it in lol. Shame about your builder - I hope he's recovering OK.

In the meantime, you'll just have to keep the GTi running so it's ready for the next...

Thanks Phil :) The GTi needs a fair bit of work which is almost completed : Bad gearbox oil leaks, clutch conversion to pull type, engine work including piston rings, valve stem seals, big end and main bearings, aircon hoses and charging ports. Then at some future time welding around the rear subframe and doors derusting. So as you can see it will be ready for the next one.
BXs were easy to run ten or twenty years ago.I could do with a rebore too.

Just in case it might be useful for anybody who never leave Great Britain  ( Is there still some :?: )
Please don't forget to dial +44 and to forget the first "0" when you dial a phone number from another country
If the number is 0712 345 6789
You need to dial + 44 712 345 6789 from any foreign country
You also can dial +44 7……… from your home so it could be better to register the number in the +44 7 ………… form…!

This message is just in case it could help someone

I wish a safe journey to each one of you and look forward to meet you in Falaise at the Ibis on the last day :!: =D>
