Couldn't everyone wear massive fake sideburns - just so they get the message!? 8)

Do they have to be fake sideburns?

It's probably been quite a while since 'Bradders' had to bogger about with an inner tube and a puncture repair kit? :D

I've just spotted this Phil - looks great and I'm sure it will be as much as a success as the two other tours were. I'm glad I managed token involvement in them both - Interlaken last year was particularly memorable.

Thanks. It's the people that make it. Interlaken was quite memorable, yes... ;)

NOTE: If someone turns up in a French car younger than 1994 then I'm not going to turn them away... so to those who have asked (I'm talking about Xantia owners mainly ;) ) don't be put off. I have to put some criteria in place... why? Well I'd rather see a Citroen BX doing the Challenge than a Ford Focus... And I'd kind of like to discourage any Saxo's lol

To give you an idea of the sort of car that would give variety and spice to the event I had a quick look online... there are some cars there I'd consider worthy even though they're not BXs or indeed Citroens and in most cases not even French...

A Saab 99, Volvo 240, Skoda Estelle, Lancia Delta, Talbot Alpine, Peugeot 205 TD, Renault 8, Renault Dauphine.... :)

I particularly like this one (bit out of my price range though...) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230944622209" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Was it? I don't remember a thing...

Worry not - I have no plans or even a desire to do it in a Focus! Current plan is to do it in 'Old Smoky' but I wouldn't say no to an Intergrale. Sadly, I think the chances of me owning one are even less than me lasting the trip without doing something daft.

I'm thinking Renault 21 turbo quadra. I've always had a thing for these cars. I suspect however, that taking the XM would be a less ruinous experience.

@Mat: What do you mean you don't remember Interlaken. I distinctly remember you running through the campsite dressed as a Smurf. :o

It's not something I really wanted to do but....

THIS WILL NOW TAKE PLACE IN JUNE 2015

There are a number of factors that have conspired to change the date of the TOUR DU CŒUR Challenge... it has to take place 2015 and not 2014 as planned. For family reasons - not to mention my work and financial priorities 2014 for me is not a viable year anymore.

But that alone wouldn't be a reason for it to change (although I'd have to suggest someone else organised an event in its place) - I'd just miss it. However, there are other participants for whom 2015 would be a better choice.

One has continuing fitness/health issues that need time to resolve. Finances too are a significant factor in a number of cases. Another has a BIG birthday coming up that clashes, so he wouldn't be able to make it either. At least two more (plus me!) need more time to obtain/prepare a car, and would welcome more time to create space in their year's commitments. Another has an important work assignment in June 2014 and another is going to be abroad.

I am not going to name these people as I respect their privacy, but feel the
event needs them to be able to take part. I want as many veterans of previous events to come along - and that all means 2015 is the more practical choice.

Can I suggest a weekend jaunt, somewhere around May/June 2014 could still be planned to allow people to at least meet up and renew friendships... Chris Salter suggested a trip to Eurocitro - and that seems an nice idea.

Let's have a collective think.

Now, although 2015 is a long way off it means those who want, can or intend to come along have plenty of time to prepare automotively, work-wise, and financially. 2015 gives families and friends plenty of notice so hopefully things like weddings etc. can be arranged around the Challenge. lol

Check out the FB page for updates.

Suits me much better, Challenge in 2012 plus ICCCR and then Ecosse this year and the National too.

Plus In July next year its my 40th and a mate of mine gets married so that would have been an issue.

Philip - can you please remove my email address from your dist list. I've no idea if I'll take part in this event and if I do, it'll be much nearer the time that I decide. It'll be great whenever and wherever it happens so I've nothing to input.

At the moment, I'm having trouble planning one week to the next, let alone next year or the year after!
