I'd certainly be interested in tracing my biological roots in Southern Ireland.

Likewise, as three out of four of my grandparents originated in Eire, and Irish records are very hard to trace from here.

We can compare our history, over a pint of Guinness and some soda farls!!

SHAME! ...but understand why.

As for this, I quite like the idea of Ireland, but I hate Guinness and require more info on soda farls. I've just realised that these 'Challenge' names are all Franglais - The closest french to Challenge is Récusation, but I think the sense is more adversarial and negative. Dúshlán Hibernia perhaps?

2015 !! This is disappointing.
If the time of year is wrong then lets reschedule to May,June or September 2014 and stick to Phil's route proposal OR go elsewhere first having voted to find what is popular within the BXC, French warmth or Irish hospitality.

Me transmitte sursum, Caledoni!

I have no problem with an event being planned for 2014 at all. Some familiar faces - including me - wont be able to go, (it's not the day or month that's a problem :) ) but for those who want to, a 2014 Challenge is not difficult - it just need planning and promoting. In fact as the 2012 Challenge was really quite a successful plan a repeat of that wouldn't be a bad idea especially for those who missed it the first time... I'd be happy to supply details of the event route etc.

And, as you seem to suggest Jaba, maybe it's time for an Ireland event??

Of course, Sorry!

Anyway the weight of responses I've had privately is favourable towards a 2015 event. I think a lot of people need to take a bit of a breather from this sort of thing. Well, the people who are regular participants certainly. We've had the 2009 BXagon, 2010 saw a Conservatoire visit, 2012 the Classic Challenge and another Conservatoire visit, dotted around these events are the usual rallys etc. including a flourishing X Rally and so on. I think having time out to recouperate/save, to devote more time to such pressing matters as work, family as well as car restoration etc. is going to be welcome - a necessity in some cases.

Stick with it. It'll be worth it.

If Ireland turns into a goer, I may be able to help with ideas for camping venues. Mum is membership secretary of the Irish Motorcaravanners Club, so may be able to pass on details of rally venues they use. It may also be worth contacting the Irish section of the CCC to see if there's anything in their calendar we can tie up with. Bear in mind Ireland is expensive, both to get to and for general expenses over there. My personal preference for ferry crossings is the Irish Ferries Pembroke / Rosslare route, mainly due to cost and access from home - and I managed to get 20% off this years crossings by booking at the beginning of the year! Despite this, I'd suggest somewhere near Dublin as an assembly point for the start.
