Fresh petrol and battery, RXBX fitted a new fuel feed pipe and away she went! Then promptly popped a rear pipe!! Doh!!

High pressure I assume - Brake or suspension, as depending on load and which pipe, you could blank it off!

Just! It's tucked away in Toms garage! Complete with a long trail of LHM behind her! All spheres are shot as is the radiator and the clutch cable is sticky.

On the positive side the body's excellent with no welding needed and the engines as sweet as a nut!

TBH I'd expect the sphere to be shot after all that time! Radiator isn't a big issue, and if you really wanted, you could probably degrease and relube the cable rather than change it!

If those pics of the C posts are the worst bits of the car you've got a winner there!

Home at last!

What a long day, 12 hours and nearly 400 miles in all.

Overall a mixed day, thanks to Richard (RXBX) and Tom for their assistance today, I couldnt have considered taking the car on otherwise, and also to Andrew and Christine (the previous owners) who supplied us with tea and warmth when required, I know Christine espcially was quite emotional when the estate finally left their place for the first time in 14 years.

The bodywork is in great condition for 26 years old, a few dents and scratches, mostly probably from being in the garage and having things stored on or around it, the only corrosion we could see is the door shuts which should be just a case of treating and painting as they arent "through".

Interior is complete, everything works (asides a few dashbulbs) and its very clean and and no rips or tears, strangely the door handles on one side have discoloured but not the other as have a few switches!

The engine started with ease with some fresh juice and a new battery and sounds very sweet, possibly helped by having a full Citroen/Specialist service history and being serviced just before it was layed up (in fact its done 14 miles since the last MOT)

The spheres at the front are rock solid, not sure about the rears as the pipe gave way before I could test it.

Now my biggest worry, shes 165 miles from home, with a burst main feed pipe, a cullinder for a radiator and flat spheres. The front stays up until I lower the car but the LHM pisses straight out the back with great gusto and the back end sinks straight away, however the front brakes do work.

Any offers of paid assistance for anyone nearby would be greatly received, I had hoped to get the car either trailered back via shipley or ideally MOTed/Serviced locally and driven home, both of which are looking unlikely as the car really only stays up for a few seconds before emptying its LHM tank and dropping its arse.

I can fits spheres and the radiator (I have one in my store) but the split pipe is beyond my remit as its on the deck and of course 3 hours from me.

Have you seen for certain that it's a split pipe (if so which one) or could it be the rear suspension cylinder? I could possibly take a look on my way to the Bristol show if no joy sooner but as I don't have a flaring tool and only a couple of rear pipes in stock there would be no guarantee of success.

Any assistance would be greatly accepted, even if its just a quick fix so I can get it trailered home as it needs to be moved fairly quickly.

If its not feasable to get it mended down there I may have to think about the cars future :(
