Im starting to wish I had never seen this car now (bloody estate cars!), its turning in to a bit of a moneypit, and 340 miles round trip everytime it requires any work is tiring and expensive.

What to do next? Do I admit defeat and break it or arrange to get it scrapped, its got lots of useful spares on it including a new battery, front spheres, front to rear pipes, exhaust.

Inspiration needed!

Obviously I don't know what the arrangements with Mike were regarding fitting of the pipes, but it would be a shame to scrap it after he's put all that work in. You may have to watch that Tom doesn't pinch the head for his GT though!

Thats the thought Matt,

Mike, Paul and Tom have all been very kind but I dont want to keep "putting on them", plus doing a headgasket in a lock up with no power is a faff, and theres the headbolts, gasket set etc etc which means the estate will end up owing me quite a lot of money, plus £123 for 6 months tax....

I did hope when I agreed to buy it that as the vendor stated that when it parked up it was in full runing order asides the usual belts and fluids it would be good to go.....Ive just sold WTF for £2000 and dont want to pour most of it (I cant anyway as Ive spent most of it on bills!) into another BX which although in solid condition is tatty compared to the car I have just parted with. I would rather spend it on my house, the and getting a few bits done on the TZI and GT.

Also I need to apply for a V5C which is another £25 as the cars been off the road so long.

Im prepared to pass the car on for FREE but require payment for the parts Ive fitted (new heavy duty battery, radiator, plugs, LHM etc), obviously Tom and Mike Sims have first dibs. I would of course prefer the car to go to someone who will carry on the work I have started andnot just break it for spares as the shell is very good, if it were parked on my drive then it would be different but its not.

Dear Tim,
If you could get the estate here to me on a trailer, I could do the head gasket for you for free, you would just need to cover the cost of the parts Tim :!: :D
I may take me a little while longer to do this, but not that long, if you understand Tim
I am at home all day everyday so doing this wouldn,t be a problem Tim

You're very kind Vince, but transportation costs to you and then back and parts would run into a few hundred pounds which im loathed to spend on it but thanks for your kind offer.

Then theres the issue of getting the head skimmed aswell.

Ive pretty much made my mind up that ive decided to throw in the towel on this one sorry  As nice as it is to have Mike, Paul and Toms company the thought of another 8 hour drive doesnt fill me with joy. I would rather spend the time and money getting the GT ready for Scotland.

As mentioned Tom and Mike have first dibs on the car after that its a case of first come first served.

This car is now at its new home with the Westons!

They've sorted out the rear end (where I had reconnected it wrong  ), and have swapped some tyres round for the MOT. They've managed a brief test drive and have confirmed that other than the head gasket and a suspected failed heater matrix it's a good motor mechanically.

Yep, I was round there again today (twice!) Trying to sort parts for Timex's repair, and they've even got an MOT on it now! They're hoping, work permitting, to have the rest of the repair work done shortly - at this rate it'll be fixed before mine!
