Fantastic turnout overall though, and actually a fair few BXs. Lovely to meet a few new faces and catch up with some better known ones. I shall have to look to my laurels and do better than flapjack, Jane's banana bread and lemon'n'blueberry drizzle cake were extremely edible.

Um, yeah, the event itself: apparently there were over 110 cars total, 25 or so entered the concours. Excellent XM turnout too, nice to see given that it's their 20th anniversary this year? After dismal weather yesterday evening and a rather grey chilly start to this morning (possibly because I was awake and cooking coffee at 7 am, having slept like the dead through the awful alarm that woke everyone else - and went off later in the morning) - it turned out a beautiful day. I think I may even have caught the sun a little. No pix because my phone battery went dead (thanks for the in-car charger loan Jane, peace of mind driving home), hopefully Tim will copy some of his from Facebook over to here.

Looking forward to the next one :)

Indeed a huge turnout in general, over 100 cars and fab weather. One gent who contacted me Thursday whilst we were at Whittlesey to ask if Wetherby would be a place to unload his stock of BX bits. Anyway he appeared with Xsars estate rammed full!

Rarities included new speedo cable, abs sensor, a centre armrest and genuine rear headrests for a TZD, GTi, 16v alloys, estate cubby hole flaps and a bag full of used flaps! And no I'm not joking.

Another chap turned up in a mint 27000 mile TGD auto which he paid just £300 for 3 weeks ago snapped up the armrest and boot flaps and Mr Badger picked up the cable and sensor.

Richard 1162 was there and is still very much BX obsessed and has bought Ex mark Evans Meteor and the mk1 17RD .....and the 16v alloys.

I picked up a oil and air filter for the GT plus a new speedo head and ignition lock for same for £10 the pair, a steel wheel with a scrap tyre and a good wiper motor to replace the very worn effort on the TZI (which bombed up the m1 I'm floaty new strut stylee!)

So overall a great day, just a shame a few regulars were absent.

Just as well I was'nt there - I'd have spent money I really haven't got by the looks of it  - I've had my chips lately BX parts wise. Roll on the tech weekend - I'm getting BX withdrawal symptoms! :D

Can't make tech weekend I feel, need to have some time away from cars and doing normal stuff as I've been working all hours and then having no spare time to spend with M.

Really good to get to an event and catch up with people , it's been a while. There were some rather splendid vehicles there, the XMs looked great all lined up together. Thanks to Ray & Graham for the hot water for my morning coffee, Sandre for my lunch, Barry for my new aerial and Tim for fixing it on for me. Also thanks to the nice man with the nice £300 BX for his advice on knee surgery! I should have provided "party bags" of cake, we have a rather unmanageable quantity left. :?

Face glowing a bit from the unexpected exposure to sunshine and looking forward not to be sharing my bed with Nathan tonight, that boy does hog the duvet!

I'll definitely be going to the tech weekend, in the XM.

I'm glad everyone had a fab time today. There's always next year to look forward to. :)

Met Merlyn & Barry for the 1st time :) I managed to raise £3.50 in aid of Cancer Research which i'll pass onto my wife who is doing the Race for Life in June, thank you to everyone who bought something from me :)

Typically i bought more parts than i sold, thats normal though. Managed to bag 2 headlight adjusters with associated gubbins, a steering pinion valve kit (i think), 2 2nd hand front struts with strut tops & spheres, 2 rear arms with good bearings & rear discs(fingers crossed they are), 2 hub carriers with discs attached & the best part was a brand new front strut with genuine citroen strut return pipe & clip attached as well. I'll leave you to guess how much i paid for that shiny piece of BX'ness, gulp, but it was cheaper than those 2 recent e-bay struts went for if you halved the price of those, so i think i did well.

I wonder if anyone in china might be interested in making a batch of these struts, i'm sure there would be demand????hmmmm, anyone got any internationl connections?

And the weather turned out nice as well :)
