BX estate.. but not as you know it.
Anyone know what this is about?
Re: BX estate.. but not as you know it.
Yup. That was a concept proposed to Citroen for a BX people carrier. Citroen rejected the concept and Matra developed it into the 1st gen Renault Espace.

Assuming it's built the same way as the early Espace, The bodywork will be mostly GRP.
A friend of mine was wanting an early Espace until he saw one on the Motorway that had caught fire, his description was that 'there wasn't much left!'.

Re: BX estate.. but not as you know it.
In the early days of the BX Citroen had the bright idea of building a people carrier type vehicle on BX underpinnings. Peugeot put a stop to that little game as they thought it was a really bad idea that would never sell . . . Renault of course thought otherwise and built the Espace; the rest of the 'people carrier thing' is history. Details here . . .

Wasn't this actual vehicle auctioned off last year when Heuliez had the big clearout of all their prototypes and concept models? Along with the seven seater BX break that went for €7000.

I find that an odd response. If a metal car catches fire, you're left with a heap of ruined metal. Plastic cars just melt instead.citsncycles wrote:Assuming it's built the same way as the early Espace, The bodywork will be mostly GRP.

Well that explains why it looks like a sort-of Espace, it's remarkably similar from the A pillar back in fact. Educated ~

I think the impression he got was that with a metal car it wouldn't burn so quickly or completely, giving you more chance to get out.I find that an odd response. If a metal car catches fire, you're left with a heap of ruined metal. Plastic cars just melt instead.
Where I grew up one of the locals was always hoarding old Reliants. Every so often the local kids would set fire to one of his rougher cars and by the time the fire brigade got there quite often all that was left was the chassis, front seat frames and whatever running gear hadn't been removed.

Youre spot on there Todd, it had been "fiddled with" and had quad headlamps a S2 CX front bumper grafted on, and looked rather tatty.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....
