Track day as well I'm worried about reving my car to 4500rpm to measure that its under 100db loud, i don't think it will, haha

Some chavs there, yeah sure. Are there chavs in the towns you guys live in? Can't be, otherwise you wouldn't live there, right?

A good half of it are decent like-minded owners' clubs, and this is one of the best shows in the UK to see some really rare metal (or plastic, being French) in the flesh. 205 T16, 405 T16, classic Renault 5 GT, hell there was even an SM there last time.

I've been twice. Am I going this year? Nope, but I see this show get slated every year on here on this forum, and it's the ONE main event bringing French cars together in the UK in a sea of blue oval/Dubshite/Vauxhall etc. It's better than nothing and having attended previous years I'd recommend it if you've got no where else to be or nothing else to do along with an open mind.

the bxc went in 2006 and got mostly ignored, each to their own of course but if maxxed up 206's and pimped Saxo's on huge chrome rims owned by a lad called Wayne isn't your thing then save your dollars.

The traction club and 2cvgb are maybe making a good appearance at the National this year if that's more your thing.

What do you mean ignored? You don't go to shows to seek approval, surely? I thought the idea of going to shows was to look around at the other cars there?

I think this club has a bit of an attitude at times, and to be fair you've got to be fairly open minded to hang around on here anyway so it constantly surprises me.

Just for the record, some random pictures I took at the last FCS I went to (2006, I think).

First FCS i went to was in 2004 when i first got the valver, mainly so i could get some track-time. It was a good mix of "quality" metal, including a dozen of our valvers, Ren 9/11's, Alpines, 205/309's, a host of early citroens and plenty of what we older generation would call life-projects (cars you own forever and spend your life doting on).

There was also the start of the Chav-Modifying scene, where Halfords was just starting to change it's direction in the market, however, most of the modified cars were genuine money-pits that owners spent a fortune on getting the way THEY liked them and everyone has their own taste. All-in-all it was a good show.

Last one i went to was '08 at Rockingham and all that suffered with was a bad venue and poor organisation!

I agree that there are a lot of awful cars out there, with poor excuses for modifications to "enhance" them. BUT, there is still the genuine modifying scene that any engineer or man-racer can appreciate, whether it's to their taste or not.

We should all remember that shows like FCS are put on for profit, they're not like owners club meetings where we go for the sake of the marque. So, FCS etc will encourage as many to come along as possible, whether it be Jimmy Paxo with only one of his 39.99 ebay Angel-Eyes working and his bolt-on chrome tailpipe wonky or Colin's Clio V6 with a 5k bodykit and 10k engine.

Cars are still cars. I love cars.

The BX16V Forum used to go for a few years, and i used to organise our attendance, and the retailers bit on the day. The last one we went to was in 2006 when some of the BXClub folks joined us. I think that was the last year at Bruntingthorpe, before it moved to Rockingham.

I couldn't go for a few years and no one took up the mantle so i don't think many BX's still go.

Given how much the event has changed since it was the PGAC National meet, I doubt it is anything like the 2006 event (for better or worse) and i really should go again.

One of the Organisers (Mark) is a member on here and on the BX16v Forum and usually posts the latest details about the event.

Nah - they're just the toys we wish we had a big enough garage for!
