temp switches??
there are 2 temp switches on the stat housing one blue one yellow, on my tzd these i assume are both warning switches, which pins do these go back to on the cluster as i need to use one of them for the temp sender i have fitted.

Try disconnecting each switch one at a time and observe what happens?

Most of the switching on a BX occurs on the earth line. I believe in this case it is when the sensor goes low resistance at the appointed temperature.

Earth the wire to each sensor, you will either get a light come on or the temp gauge will read max or am I missing the point?

That's exactly how to check the 2 sensors at the front - they are switches - ridiculously high temps IIRC one is 105 degrees and the other 112 degrees.Earth the wire to each sensor,
