You might as well have the other one Kitch - by the time I get round to using it it'll probably have dried up! Swap you for some wiring? ;)
Very kind of you Mat, though I'm not too clued up on polishes....if I apply that over the stuff I'm planning to put on before the show I'll probably reverse the effects of them!

On the wire front - I've got an old ignition switch, you could have the wiring from that? Didn't really want to start chopping looms up yet as I'm (still!) not 100% decided on the fate of the red shell. I'm probably about 95% sure it's dying, but not 100%

Another thought while I'm here.....all the cars are going to end up on low after a while, and we can't restart them.

Why don't we chock some of them so they sit at different heights? Leave some on low, some on normal.....maybe put Mats on high in off-road mode?

Only need some blocks of wood underneath.

I believe that's already part of the scheme. ;) (for exactly the reasons you state).

It's either that or we rig one of the cars up with a hand-cranked hydraulic pump so we can raise it at will. Hmm. Should have thought of that earlier!

Is it taken care of then? Cos I won't fuck about with bits of wood otherwise!

Yup - I'll be cutting some bits of wood to support mine in high at least.

Regarding the polish, I'm no expert either! Can't see it doing any harm and I'm bringing it anyway - if yours has as many scratches as mine I find that they're all higlighted in white after I've polished it  So if you want to try a bit feel free.

No worries about the wiring, I can understand why you want to keep your options open. It's both the male and female parts of the connectors I'm after so the ones on the switch are only half the story…but a start, cheers :) Swap for a drink or two? (Only half a shandy at NEC prices though  )

Might be nice to support one at 'normal' height if possible. I sense that Kitch is keen to do a bit of carpentry!

Oh no, I hate woodwork!

But yeah I think I'll support mine at normal height....unless they're all at normal height! Then I'll go low

Last year they were all in low, if we can get one in standard and one in max it would be ideal.

If you're stuck for wood, let me know. I think I have one block that will go under the front subframe at normal height.

Amidst all the excitement about getting it all set up on Thursday, what about the workers ?
I believe I am scheduled for stand duty on Saturday, if so, what time and how do I get in this year please ??

And while we're talking planning - Thursday.....

There is a chance I'll have to bring the whole family along with me, as my lift back to Fareham has let me down. So I can get there for the agreed time no problem, but how long will I be needed for on Thursday? I'm happy to help out where needed, but if it's more than an hour I'll have to find a soft play or something for the kids to go to! Appreciate there might be a bit of to & fro getting cars into the halls!

Had I got my lift I could have stayed until the evening, but that's by the by.

Set up can take a long time, so may be safer to find somewhere for kiddies. In fact, I fear there may actually be a ban on children being in the halls during set up AND take down.

I wondered about the 'get out' timings? Show closes at 1730, but I imagine absolutely everyone with a car in the NEC will want to start moving out at 1731, so what is the anticipated lead time? To lift the carpet means the cars have to move, so there's an issue already. What was the deal last year?

I seem to remember from the blurb we got sent that there's a ban on kids during set up day - I'm sure Sandre will be able to clarify this.

The other thing that occurred to me - driving back from Mark's in the pouring rain - is that no matter how clean your car is when you set off, it will be filthy when you get there (assuming inclement weather). Might we have to find a garage with a jet wash?
