Just got home - phew! Great show everyone and thoroughly professional effort. I think we're punching above our weight. Thanks to Matt for the loan of tools (I'll remember to bring my own next time), Paul for the fantastic laminated spec sheets, Tim for the brochures and Sandre for organising and allegedly nagging. (hope you feel better soon)

Carpet delivered in the lock up, packed away, and now fed and watered, god in shattered! Some nice man has left me a BX estate on my drive!!!

Well done to everyone involved, our stand was every bit as good as those who have a paid member ship and have been at it for years!

For those who travelled along way have a safe journey home!

Lovely to see nearly all the Kitch clan!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Great stand. I will admit that the carpet was a great move and having the cars at different heights worked really well.

What a fantastic show , and looking around it our stand was up there with the best.
I too would like to thank Sandre, Paul and Tim for their excellent work in making the BX club stand a great success .
I would also like to thank everyone on here who voted for my car to be on the stand it was a great experience , and if we get a stand next year put your car up for nomination it is a big commitment but well worth it.
Hope that everyone got home ok without any problems (Kitch you had your share over the weekend was the valver ok going home?)
Thanks
Gary.

Well done guys the stand looked very impressive and must have certainly boosted interest in the BX considerably. I bet there were quite a few classic car enthusiasts with a BX now on their to have list. =D> =D> =D>

We did it! =D> Everything went pretty much without a hitch and it looked brilliant. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work, turning up and generally supporting the club. I suspect this weekend, there were quite a few folks out there in classic car land who were reminded what a great car the BX really is. I'm off to bed now - I'm knackered. :D

The weekend:

Thursday set up went smoothly despite best efforts of traffic to hold up Des and Kitch, coming from the south. I spent too much time running round after banks and estate agents (trying to buy a house: they'll be asking for several pints of blood next, good job I had the paperwork with me to fax over from NEC business centre). We were pretty much done and dusted by 5 pm: the cars were all lined up and just the final bits of cleaning needed.

Friday - certainly the quietest day. Business was steady: the best one (for me) was from the lady who asked how much we charged for subscriptions. We must have looked well organised.

Saturday was very busy. One thing that seemed noticeably different from last year was that people seemed to 'hang round' for longer on the stand, which was nice to see. Perhaps that's just me. Four hour interlude fetching Mark from Coventry after his industrial injury (as I said, throwing yourself out of a truck so you can come to the ball, I mean NEC, was a BIT extreme, hope you're recovering now). Lovely meal on Saturday night.

Sunday was also busy. Unfortunately I was decidedly woozy (food poisoning from nasty cheap lunch in Coventry), apologies for not being particularly useful, glad I stayed though - I had a great time despite running on empty. Take down was surprisingly fast and we were all on our way just after 7 pm.

Lovely to catch up with people during the weekend and get to know others better where our paths hadn't really crossed before.

The Oscar speech bit - thanks to Tim for putting some of us up and sorting temporary storage for the carpet, as well as provision of the eagle eye for detail in car placing and polishing. A big thank you to Ian S: many people have been kind enough to say how much better the stand looked this year - we couldn't have done that if he hadn't 'opened the door' for us last year with the first stand, which was brilliant for a first effort (still looking better than some clubs who've been doing NEC shows for years) - and we learned from that for this year.

Last, no means least - thanks *very* much to all the exhibitors - I know you were all proud to have your cars on the stand, it's also not all joy in terms of convenience and additional expense associated with travel and alternative accommodation. I wish we (BXC) were in a position to help you out with costs - maybe one day. Sincerely hope you found the experience worthwhile.

Dates for next year: 14 - 16 November.

I would do it all again next weekend if it was possible, a truly great weekend.
Worth every minute of worry and preparation in the week leading up to the show ,the cars were great the people even better.
