Both received/acknowledged, cheers guys.

We now have more than we need to pay NEC insurance and I'll make up the difference to full year as I consider it's worth taking the risk that we might not use it - as hopefully that risk is low: 2-3 other shows have been suggested already. Mark, please would you e-mail the details of the Adrian Flux quote and I'll call 'em tomorrow and pay - thanks.

Anyone who wanted to donate, but couldn't do so at this time - all future donations still gratefully received, let's see if we can get that carpet :D - thanks.

Unfortunately they're one of a very finite number of companies offering PL insurance to small car clubs/organisations. They do have a dedicated team specifically for this purpose and going by the individuals I've spoken to, they seem more than competent. Time will tell however.

Sandre, please PM me your bank details so I can do a transfer as I don't want to waste money on Paypal's industry leading transaction charges when a BACS transfer costs nowt.

I'm confused - if I make a payment on Paypal using the family and friends option, there are no charges (although the business transaction option is quite steep!). Yet quite a few people say there are charges on all their transactions! Am I in the minority here?

If you make it as personal payment and it either directly comes from your bank account or from a Paypal balance there are no charges...

/\ As Hilary has stated. No charges if sending money as gift etc, so long as it's a bank transfer or the funds are coming out of a PayPal balance.

If using a linked debit/credit card then charges ARE applicable.

It is slightly confusing, but once you've done it a few times "all becomes clear".
*Confucious*

( I think ) although whether he actually used PayPal is a slightly contentious subject. :)

I'll be sending a contribution this afternoon once I've sorted the major disaster that's work today!

Well I sold a few BX bits recently and found that Paypal helped themselves to a generous chunk of the funds which resulted in me receiving less than the asking price on some of the items. On others I received the full amount.

If there is a way that both seller and buyer pay no charges as suggested above then that is good.
But Paypal are a bank owned by eBay so are in a monopolistic position and I would rather not use their services when they are avoidable even if they are free.

Right, think I have acknowledged everyone's donations now, please let me know if you haven't heard back from me - and apologies if this is the case.

Thank you very much to everyone who has donated so far - we covered the insurance even before I chipped in and are well on the way to carpet :) - any more most gratefully received and we can promise they'll go to good use to put the BXs' best wheels forward

Please may I just remind everyone to select the 'Sending money to family & friends' option on Paypal though, as we have incurred a couple of fees in recent months (T-shirt payments, etc, which I've covered, they've been pennies, but it hurts my principles as we're non profit-making). If you're paying by debit/credit card, we will incur a charge "whatever" it is, so direct bank transfer (or cheque to me if you haven't got a Paypal account) would be better - thanks very much.
