I can see the argument for both methods, unless you get the chance to see the replacement engine working, it may be shot as well & that would be annoying. Anyone know how to fit a BMW 3 litre 6 cylinder twin turbo diesel engine in a BX, now that would be stupendous ;)

I was just joking, i recently drove a 2008 330d & it was superb, if only it could be housed in the bx, that would be the ultimate q car, diesel economy with all that power (227bhp, the newer one's have even more) & torque to die for. But its all electronic so would never work tbh & like you say, it's unlikely to even fit in a standard BX engine bay. I was wondering out of interest though, what is the most powerful non electronic assisted diesel turbo engine that could be fitted? I'm aware that the XM 2.1d engine has been fitted, but wondered if there were any other engines that had more than the standard 110bhp that it produced?

TBH I would be more interested in the 1.6 110hp turbo in the C4 as it probably would fit. A friend of mine has one in a '12 plate C4 and got 80 mpg+ on a 4 up return trip, effectively from London to Manchester and back. Bet it can also be 'chipped' to give a little more, bear in mind the BX tyre size limitation.

Surely to get some extra oomph would be easiest to fit a 1.9TD Xantia and tweak it.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

If diesel, so I think that this motor was bi optimal for BX . And if you want hurricane thrust at high speeds then you can help this XU9J4TE .

As the work on the repair of the engine I'll post the picture and describe done . So the block is processed under oversize pistons , washed and cleaned and painted .
Image
By the way, I want to note that after processing unit must be very carefully wash , because there are still a lot of abrasive after honing . So carefully washed the block first brush with gasoline and then processed by special chemical solution and blotted them out under the pressure of Carher . Inside my even more carefully , then under the pressure of blowing all channels and thread .
It crankshaft , he remained nominal size , that after I measured it turned out that wear almost there .He also well washed and all channels purged with compressed air .
Image
Now we take our cylinder block and turn it upside down . Take a new liners and set them into place . Here I want to draw your attention to the fact that the upper ear differ from the lower and have holes for oil supply under pressure . From turning liners in the cylinder block and a rope made special locks . All refills oil lubricated .On the photo you can see everything .
Image
Image
Next install a persistent half rings . They also have locks that are made and the cylinder block and a ski-tow . Brush the back side of grease so they can well become glued to his seat . Setting they are in the loop ?2 . Here is a photo
Image
Image
Persistent half rings come in two sizes nominal and increased . They prevent excessive axial backlash of the crankshaft . To know what you need a size should be measured backlash crankshaft using a dial indicator . I'll show you a little later when I will go to his friend to the service station to take advantage of some special tools . Backlash should be 0.07-0.32 .Here is a photo where I Meryl resistant semiring with a micrometer . They were nominal size , wear is not detected .
Image
Now, carefully , so as not povypadali persistent half rings , put the crankshaft in his bed .
Image
Next, insert the yoke on their places . To confuse you can't because they are numbered . The first from the flywheel and so on . Just watching to locks liners in the cylinder block coincided with locks in the rope , that is to one side .Also do not forget to put persistent half rings in the stirrup ?2.
Image
I also want to say a few words about the first clip that has a rubber seal - it is desirable to cover the sealant for a better seal, because the time and temperature do the trick. ' s photo of him . After I put sealant I forgot to take a picture of him , and I think everything is clear .
Image
After you have installed all of the yoke on their places , take compression key and lightly tighten the bolts . Lightly because all the screws will be tightened with a torque wrench according to the instructions .
Image
Image
So far, I am , and as progress, I'll post the photos and give a detailed report . I think for some it will become useful . Further will follow the program :D .

Sorry forgot to answer you . Such motors , 201 horsepower , were installed on limited editions P-205 and P-405 4+4 from the rear of hydraulics . We recently such 405 sold think in Odessa for $ 8,000 . But they are very rare . Incidentally repeatedly met in turbokit for sale in ??-16 . Turbocharged mi-16 is called the t-16 .
