I am with you Tim. If its an auction, fine, but I am an unlikely buyer in that case as I am no fan of Mr Wall. Quoting a direct price might well see me pay more than various bidding scams, as I am good at smelling them and refuse to play. Not that I am suggesting anything is going on here. I suspect interest might just be stronger than was expected and thus the price in mind might be set too low. A rethink thus retires under the smoke of slight confusion. These things happen and a seller is entitled to a fair price. What is that, I do not know as details are still unclear. Is it metal or plastic. Is it freestanding or wall mounted. I have sold a similar sized Ford oblong, from a lighting box, not included, so I would say more desirable, for £200. Also a Renault wall mounted diamond, probably a little less desirable, for £135. That was two years ago. That's why I said I would offer a BX14E car whole. Could be miles out though.

Bitcoin, not sure about them yet. You need to be a techi and to keep them yourself as security is an issue. Bitcoin tied to a commodity would be a whole different ball game. But that fixes its value and half those into Bitcoin are playing the value markets making it a very unstable medium to trade in unless deals are fast. So a car sold on deposit and paid for later. Bitcoin at hammer, half now, rest at a future value. its messy as I can see people back out as values alter 10 points in two days. There is a kernel of a good idea there but Bitcoin is not the answer I think.

A mate has one of these in his collection - he had 2 and sold one but can't remember for how much. They are metal with enamel, and designed to go on a wall. They're nice as they are not flat like many metal signs, but they do seem to be relatively common compared to other old Citroen signs.

Dunno how that helps, but it's as much as I know about these signs.

I've a couple of 'old' Michelin signs. When I say 'old', they're actually reproduction signs made by a company in Australia. Made out of sheet tin and look quite good. IIRC they were about £25 + postage.

It's a similar phenomenon to the AA/RAC badges. A few years ago the prices for these were becoming stratospheric, but now they're only a few quid on eBay.

Most AA/RAC badges are not really rare. When folk carried their badges on bars they would buy at autojumble. Now they do not as badges are in cabinets and the Internet offers oversupply. So only specific types are valuable.

Replica signage is a problem. Some are well done. Guy in Germany gets batches made, has is kids ride bikes over them or such. Treats them with chemicals and then calmly puts them out for sale at jumble as if they a well preserved originals. He does very well but if you look at the back you can normally tell. Late Michelin stuff appears on aluminum and then plastic, not very collectible but shows well. The older stuff is more interesting but it gets interesting when Bibendon is smoking his cigar as there is some age to it. Some of the artwork is stunning and I am lucky enough to have some original prints from the early 20's rescued from a clearout of a building being redeveloped in the Lot.

Where's greendale gone ? - the owner of the sign...perhaps he's gone off to sell it elsewhere.

I think it's a bit plain really.
Why is it yellow?, -- I've never seen a citroen with two yellow Vee symbols on it.
Perhaps someone will put me right though !!

It's certainly the real deal, very rare and collectable and probably dates from somewhere between the mid-50s - late 60s. There's another example on Barry's workshop wall at Bourne Citroen. If it were mine, there's no way anyone would prise it out my greasy mit for less than 160 quid. At auction - if a couple of collectors were hell bent on ownership - I suspect it would go for substantially more.

I have no doubt it is genuine, that was never in question, in my mind.

It was just why did they make it YELLOW !!! ???
-Should it not have been silver, perhaps on a black background ?

It was because until the mid/ late 70s their corporate colours were blue and yellow like their parent company Michelin.
