Re: 6 speed gearbox
What gearbox would that ideally be? I guess everything can be done, like Audi engine and 5-speed gearbox into an HY.
BX 4x4 estate, several BX Van's and some more normal estates in Finland.

Re: 6 speed gearbox
It is possible, and I believe it's been done on a BX with a Pug GTi-6 box, but you don't gain anything in top gearing so no benefit for cruise. You have to rework the bell housing either by welding the GTi-6 or rebuilding into the BX gear box but that also means welding and drilling to extend the reverse shaft mount position. Then you'll potentially have to relocate the FDV.
All reasonably straight forward, if you have the skill set. Frankly after collecting all the parts and working out what needed to be done, I decided what I wanted was a longer 5th gear which I've taken from a diesel box.
Oh, I calculated with the 17" rims and a 20mm spacer, I wouldn't limit my steering by fouling the extra long gearbox.
