BX register

Post by Kitch »

Hi all,

Those who read my scribblings in the Citroenian will know I've been setting up an online register database for our beloved BXs.

It's taken a while, but it's finally live! Here:

https://forms.gle/psd2mgSyN7ZyEgBA8

It's a fully online entry form for the BX register. It's up and running, and live right now. It's fully encripted, and nobody can see the results except me. I'll report back occasionally on here (and more frequently in the column) with interesting ("we'll be the judge of that!") statistics.

So far we have about 30 BXs past and present accounted for. :)

There will be more info in January's column. Not the one you're about to receive in the post, the next one!

Enjoy

There are now 350 BXs listed in the register, some still with us, and some now bean cans. The next step is to separate it into cars that are still 'live', and ones that are no more.

Keep sending them in! Even if you just spot one for sale somewhere, the point is to add as many cars to it as possible.

I've had a look on howmanyleft and according to their listing there are approx 250 bx's of various models currently roadworthy in the UK with a lot more on SORN
The most popular being the tzd turbo with 40+ and the 16v with a surprising 20+ and a further 100+ 16v on SORN-not sure about that, sadly quite a few models are showing 0 and a fair few into single figures.
I'm not sure how up to date these figures are or where the info is obtained from
Would be interesting to compare the 2 lists if poss.
I expect there are bx owners out there who are unaware such a list as Kitch's even exists so these cars will never make the numbers up.

(copied over from the CCC FB group, for those not on FB)

Hi all, it's your friendly BX registrar here!

Been working on something for the past few days, which may (or may not) be of interest to those currently sat around with no books left to read!
It's a list of the earliest-known registered variant of each BX currently logged in the database. It does not contain every BX in the UK, just every BX 'known' to be, or have been, in the UK

Normally I would confine these findings to the BX column in the Citroenian magazine, and directly with those who have contributed, but are not a member of the CCC, however these are more difficult times, so it's share and share alike.
There's nothing confidential in it, it's just models vs. date of first registration.

Worth also pointing out that date of first registration means simply the date the car received its numberplates. It doesn't tell you how old the car is, because the date of build could be a surprisingly long time before that (as I will cover in a future column in the mag - I have a formula which calculates the average time elapsed between build date and registration date for each model, however I need more RP numbers to complete it).
Anyway, the list is in PDF format (I tried to copy & paste directly to here, but it just ended up in a complete mess).

You can submit vehicles to the register here: https://forms.gle/wXABMN6X1deE7xbf8

You can also email the basic details of a BX to: bx-register@citroencarclub.org.uk

(basic being reg number and how you found it as a minimum, but paint code and RP/orga number would be hugely appreciated too)

Register currently at 750 cars, or so. Hope to have it at a thousand before the end of the summer, which is more than the total number of BXs currently registered on the road in the UK.

There will be a bumper update of the register in a forthcoming BXclusive column in the Citroenian, but for now, enjoy (if you're weird like me, and this kinda stuff interests you!)
