Apologies if I've wrongly advised on gearbox oil for dilom's RE14. Assumed it was separate gearbox and engine oils.

The dark red does look like Citroen's 'Delage Red', sometimes referred to as burgundy. Our '89 19RD was the same colour.
As a buff-up and polish, your car looks amazing. Colour matching on very old cars is good fun, as the original paintwork will have had 30+ years to change colour slightly. Most good paintshops will use a colour spectrometer on the car to establish its 'exact' shade, and paint a whole panel with edges, rather than a patch.

You’re normally shit hot so we can let this one slide!

The 150C suitcase engine’s gearbox’s “whine” is even mentioned in the Wikipedia page so don’t worry and just enjoy.

I couldn't hear the gearbox whine on my 150c as it was drowned out by the rattly camshaft.

Shocking , the HT leads ( champion LS50’s) I ordered Saturday arrived today

20 minutes to fit and spray wd40 around the ignition module and coil lv connections

The Old ht leads were as stiff as 10mm copper pipe.

Missfire cured. Happy days

Today, a drive out to get (as well as the shopping) a price on a towbar for the car. They require professional fitting and paperwork here, so not a diy job, unfortunately. Should know next week when the job can be done. Will do my own electrics.

Car, amazingly, continues to just drive better and more powerfully with each outing. Have put around 3000km on it now, since acquisition in October, and getting road-legal in December. Surprisingly flexible in 3rd up winding mountain roads.

On the motorway, the whine (in 5th) at 110km/h was not good, and the car needed a good bit of welly to get it to 120 (the legal limit here). It now does 120-125 with ease, and quietly. The whine has almost disappeared. Perhaps I have knocked it into submission.

Looking forward to getting the AC going soon. Just waiting for the new pressostat. Although tinted, all that glass is not too clever at blocking sun-heat — not a patch on the 4-year newer XM.

This thread has seemingly now morphed into a Group Blog, which is rather jolly.
I guess I have succumbed... #-o

Whining; yes mine does it too it peaks at around 60 - 70mph but is quite bearable and is always blocked out when I put some MUSIC ON LOUD.

The whine I had peaked at the same - 60-70 (100-110km/h). The Forte has shut it up almost completely.

Had a parcel delivered to my neighbour, as I was out

Hoping it’s from autodoc with a new rocker gasket, spark plugs and a top radiator hose.

Don't have a grey one, you might be thinking of the black one. And no, it's the mk1 we switched spheres with.

Because it's a wonderful and beautiful car. I was looking at it on Ebay too but there was no chance I would bid.
