Re: My BX14 RE
Bought a very clean Peugeot 205 XS intake with a view to perhaps, one day, fit it to the BX. Now all I need to do is find a Solex 32/34.

Re: My BX14 RE
Good shout. They have one from a suitcase-engined BX14 that would definitely work, but I don't have €200.00 to spare. I'll keep periodically checking their website as I'm fairly sure they'll pick up another at some point.white exec wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 8:01 pm Try garage80.nl, who break a good few BX and other Citroens.

They are not cheap, but do have some very tidy, clean parts, decently photographed for the site.
I got my late-type black non-sports steering wheel from them for €40.

This would work but would need re-jetting. It's a good job I have two carburettors for the engine I could rob the jets off of. However, I am told and have read that the auto chokes are rather bad, dreadful even. The only guide I've found for conversion to manual is very broken. How difficult would it be?
Even if I bought a Solex/Weber 32/34 for a Peugeot 205 XS (same engine as the BX), I'd still have to contend with the autochoke. What's the solution?

Re: My BX14 RE
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember that Solex and Weber have different bolt pattern, so they don't fit the same intake manifold? And the jets also don't mix, they are very different on the inside.

Re: My BX14 RE
Solex and Weber merged in 1989, and this particular carburettor in the link is a Solex 32/34 with different branding. Even the label on the box states it's a direct replacement for one.Kaapelimies wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 5:27 pm Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember that Solex and Weber have different bolt pattern, so they don't fit the same intake manifold? Re: My BX14 RE
Solex and Weber carburettors generally always used the same design of jets, even back to the 1960s, maybe there was a licencing agreement? In most cases Solex had an almost identical carburettor available for every design of Weber.

Re: My BX14 RE
Those I've seen in Citroens were not compatible, starting from GS. From -89 and newer I have no idea, we got all injected in -90. But good to know there may be a spare available as Weber, but not sure if they're like Solex so not maybe better after all.. And "Almost similar" is exactly what I found, bolt pattern was 2mm off.. (:

Re: My BX14 RE
Rest assured the bolt patterns on the ones I'm looking at are the same. They're labelled as replacements for their Solex counterparts and visually look identical.Kaapelimies wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:59 pm Those I've seen in Citroens were not compatible, starting from GS. However, jet-wise, they aren't! There are several different jet configurations for the BX16 between certain model years, who made the carburttor and, perhaps more obviously, transmission type. As the suitcase-engined BX14 had a Solex 32/34 I'm going to try and at least get as close to the parameters those used. If bolt patterns are the same, I might try to get a 34/34 and combine the jets I have in both the carburettors I currently own.
Anyhow, this little tangent will get pretty expensive so I'll likely be waiting for a good while before any of this becomes reality.

No you wouldn't, they're manual choke. Same as an AX GT.
