Umm, I'm only going on what Ken (?) said about mk1 bonnets being steel... this one of course is a Tres Riche Diesel :)

No power steering - but who cares, you don't notice except at parking speeds... and imho I think people who avoid the BX14s on eBay because of lack of power steering are just being shandies and they should try a GSA! :wink: :lol:

My TRS had a placcy bonnet too.....I've not seen one with a metal one before

...sorry I should clarify

... about MK1 *diesel* bonnets being steel, perhaps in the higher spec cars only... because of the steel's extra sound deadening properties compared to plastic....

I think that was the theory. It was part of the whole "trying to hide" the diesel engine noise. In fact, trying to hide the fact that the car was diesel at all.

After all, diesel cars were extremely rare in the early 80's.

Which is a bit of a shame actually, as the XUD sounds quite nice to be honest.

Even the 17RD mk1 with a placcy bonnet I have at the moment, which is completely and utterly FUBAR still doesn't sound bad.
