Dont fancy getting car crushed, i would be grateful if you could dig that 2002 article out, i will in the meantime have a search on web to see if i can find anything out.

Seems crazy to me that by recycling oil which would ordinarily go down the plug hole, makes u a crim.

below is a very comprehensive article going into all details of the sustainable fuel business - seems pure biofuel creates oxides of nitrogeon - which can be reduced at minimal loss of power by retarding 3 degrees.

Just read both articles, the 1st one was easy, the 2nd one took a bit more to ingest.

What would be handy is to have some articles or peoples experiences with homebrews which work. i.e. what ingredients are required to concoct a safe cheap fuel source which doesnt damage engines or associated components.

Anyone had any experience of trying to make your own fuel?

My Bx has a Rotodiesel pump and I have been running her with up to 50% old "Chip oil" now for 5 yrs without a problem, she is a 11 year old turbo.
Never ever a fuel related problem, I just let the oil settle for about a month and then pour it in (I have a Portugese friend with a mobile "Sandwich van" who supplies me).
The first time though it did smell like a "Chippy!!!".

ARRYNEV, interesting to hear that you have been using chip oil with no probs, not sure if i would be able to get away with that, as i live in jolly england where coppers would prefer to hunt down anyone who doesnt pay duty on a few litres of oil rather than proper nasty scumbags stealing cars & theiving from houses etc.

Do you live in the French countryside, hence you can get away with it, or does France have a different policy on fuel taxation?
