Dash lights
This may seem odd, but it's been a while since I've driven my BX in the dark, and I wondered, should the heater/fan controls be lit up in the centre console? If so is a b***er to replace the bulbs?

I wondered that when I had my first BX, until it dawned on me that a car in this class from the late 80's, early 90's must have these controls lit otherwise it would be a serious specification shortfal. I pulled all control knobs off, undid the screws and then removed the facia cover and replaced bulbs. These ones arent too bad to do and the bulbs are available from Halfords.

Had the same problem - till I saw someone asking how to change the bulbs - can't say it ever worried me - but pushing the plug back on properly cured the problem.
Had them go on the ZX - and that really was a problem as they're in a different order to the BX and I got fed up with doing it by feel. Fun there as they are in a plastic box which has to be opened - and I couldn't find the clips. . .

The two bulbs behind the heater controls are dead easy to replace - must have been if I could do it without breaking anything!
A rough translation of the instructions on the French bxworld forum:
-Pull the heater/fan control knobs off
-remove the two crosshead screws behind them
-remove the two fan vents
-undo the clips behind the vents
-once the clips are undone, the console should come off on its own and you can replace the two bulbs - I found some Philipps ones in the local motor spares shop that fitted.
I could have sworn there was a post on bxworld with step-by-step instructions and pictures, but I can't fund it now...
Hope that helps
