The orginal car being offered is no longer for sale as the owner has decided to put it back on the road (like the 10 other cars lying rotting in a field he's set on restoring)
I was subsequently offered another TZD Turbo estate WITHOUT aircon :( and significantly higher miles but with a recent replacement head fitted and looked after by a respectable Citroen specialist. That car with an MOT till May is £260...

Again apologies for any confusion but the guy who was selling is wondering why I want to buy all his BX's and is upping the prices of everything..The simple fact of the matter is he has some bloody interesting rare models and they are rotting away.

That does make my blood boil, theres a scrappers near me that years ago took in a old 1960s Vauxhall Victor, it was in goo dnick but they wanted so much money for it, 10 years later its still there and now is beyond repair.

Peoples greed takes over rational thinking.

It`s very frustrating indeed. I think some people believe they can hold a gun to your head if you take an interest in some cars. I always start walking when they up the price or turn the screws.
It`d be a shame to let these BX`s (and the Victor you mention Tim) rot away but at the end of the day the greedy swine will lose out because he sure won`t get anywhere near what he could have when he finally realises he`s bitten off more than he can chew as far as restoration goes.
Can`t save them all, let him find that out the hard way.
BXCM, sometime in the new year I`ll pm you and see what BX diesel estates you have or know of if nothing shows up around this way.

Had the same thing happen to me a while ago.....there was a Volvo coupe (for those old enough to know it was the same model as the Saints car) in my local scrappy but they wanted stupid money for it! As it happened the Popular Classics mag had a feature on them a week later and I took it with me to show them the 'true' value of a scrapper 'cos thats all it was.....no joy. Later on that year I found it again under a pile of old cars....what a waste!

O.K Cavmad old chum, though i'm sure Ebay will unearth something cheap and usable...

A customer today decided rather than scrap his BX GTi he was going to spend the money and replace his autobox and some other work his car needs doing..Good to see that people want to persevere with their cars...

How many times have you heard someone say 'That's interesting - must be worth something now.' This may be a car, biscuit tin or old camera - and to some extent they are right. The problem is that while an empty tim may be worth something its unlikely to be worth more than £10 or £15 and if the marketing expenses are taken into account its probably cost you more to get rid that to chuck it away.

Same goes for old cars - but the fact is that unless its a prestige car (and only some of them) its worth virtuallly nothing (ie low hundreds if that) unless its really good and has an MOT etc.

Yes they are worth money now - if all is right.

Its amusing to look at some of the many furniture/curio auction programs on TV. - A few things fetch real money - but the effort required to get £30 which is to be regarded with excitement seems enormous.
