Just pass the whole lot over to your insurers - they're big enough and ugly enough to look after themselves!
The Insurance (business??) is getting wise to fraudulent claims and is beginning to make checks on addresses etc of claimants - but this is a rear end collision and unless you can say they deliberately braked hard in front of you its difficult to see how they are at fault. Your duty is after all to travel at a speed so that you can stop in the distance you can see is clear.
If your car is comprehensively insured you might as well claim on your insurance - the bonus is a no claim bonus rather than a no-blame bonus.
GT accident
Just pass EVERYTHING to your insurers - make no comments to ANYONE except your insurers, if you have legal cover as part of the policy your insurer will appoint a friendly rottweiler for you - otherwise just leave it to YOUE INSURERS legal department - trust me from bitter experience I have learned the hard way NOT to say anything to anyone.adamskibx wrote:YThey want me to let them know within 21 days whether this was the case. In either case, it was not. Myself and they were driving for SDP purposes. I might get my insurers rolling, and in the mean time try and get a consultation with some solicitors.
The only accident I've ever had (reaches for something wooden) was in A749 CJR , a 16TRS ... I smacked it into the side of a 1977 mk2 escort that "de-cloaked" behind me in the middle of london... being young then, and not wanting to lose what little no-claims I had, I agreed to settle without going to the insurance company... about a week later he faxed me a quote for about £1,100 ... I only dented the drivers door on an ancient Ford rot box, so I said that was a bit steep... he said his "mate" could do the job for £800 cash ... I sent my insurance details back, and told him to go down that route ... he never did claim !
Why can't people just be honest ?
I did no damage to the BX
