I've been tied up on other activities over the past couple of days, but when you see it cuurently, you'd believe it was a scrapper. No front guard, no front bumper, no grille, no lights etc, now I'm starting panel beating the door edge and removing the racks and aerial. Probably get the fluids all changed sometime Saturday and start degreasing the engine bay.
Discovered today that it seems the previous owner has fitted different seats. They are like CX seats but smaller but almost as comfortable but still look like BX seats. Don't know what they are from or if in fact the Estates had these more heavily padded seats; a real touch of luxury.

I once bought a set of sets just like to ones in your pics, they came out of a 19TRS estate. They were the same pattern as the ones I had in my CX.

Actually, those seats look from the photo to be the same as the seats in my TZi wagon.

According to the "specialist" that Alan & I were discussing re the air conditioning, by the way, he (the "specialist") advised me just last week that three shipments of wagons (estates, sorry) came in to Australia. The first shipment was a batch of TRIs in late 1989 followed by another shipment in mid(?) 90 of TZIs (still with that pattern seat covers) (so mine is one of these) and the third shipment of later spec wagons with the newer style of upholstery in early 91, he thought.

Someone on the Froggy Forum said that a total of 100 wagons came in to Australia, only. I have only ever spotted three others in Sydney, one went passed mine one day in Glenmore Road, Paddington and it was the same Blue Olympe colour that mine is - confused me somewhat!

It's strange really that they're as rare as rocking horse dung out here, yet Australia is credited with creating the station wagon, so much so that there was a company out here converting Mercedes years ago which is why Mercedes started producing them as the local company and a few more that got on the bandwagon, couldn't keep up with demand, yet I've only ever seen a couple at car shows when they were new and have only ever seen one on the road, which was also for sale and being inspected by a friend of mine a few weeks before this one popped up.
Andrew (dogboy) bought one in Sydney and shipped it to Melbourne where the auto cracked up (another Dex 3 victim) and it seems to be doomed as he hasn't even been able to shift it on eBay even for as little as $700.
Mine incidentally is a Tri not a TZi.
I wonder why they seemed to only import them in greys and blues? It seems they are the only colours I've ever seen out here, yet overseas, red, other varients and even white is available and for our climate, irridescents don't take too kindly to the tropical sun's rays.

It is funny, and after all, the GS wagon was quite popular in Australia, too.

Speaking of colours, though, apart from the other Blue Olympe one that I saw in Paddington, I have spotted a white one (or maybe it twice or another white one, once in Stanmore and once in Waitara), a silver grey one in inner Sydney somewhere, can't remember where exactly.

I also saw a red manual TZi wagon for sale through the Trading Post some time back and it was located near Canberra. That's about it that I can remember, apart from that TRi in Melbourne that you mention.

Needless to say, I have never spotted another BX in Pindimar! But there are quite a few in Newcastle, it seems.

I actually spot quite a number of BX hatchbacks in Sydney in daily commuting - mostly 16 valves these days. But I spotted a TRi and a GT about a week ago, on the same day.

As I have reported here before, there are at least 3 BXs in Balmain that I am aware of.

I think you'll find that red one is a car that I almost bought about 4 years or so ago and is actually a N/A diesel that was imported by Jim Reddiex for his wife, was sold to someone in Sydney, bought by a young guy more towards the Vic border, he resold it to Ron Wheatly who I think still owns it.
It shows you how few there are out here when we can almost discuss the history of a few of them.
The one for sale in Brisbane isn't bad sort of a car and the owner from what I can ascertain wasn't intending to re-register it when the rego ran out a few weeks ago, so it may still be on the market.
