Update:

At this time the engine and box have still to be stripped from the donor car. I'll keep you posted.

David: I'm not sure about the A-Frame... (towing in 5th with sparkplugs removed) I think it would be dangerous if the engine suddenly seized due to water in the oil, or lack of oil temperature, or lack of oil pressure whenever you came to a halt... I'm going to try and get it started soon and see what's what with it.

Update: I'm currently waiting for an ignition coil, being posted by Tim (thanks!) - once installed I can try and get this baby started again. It's been given its marching orders since my sister is about to take delivery of a new car and wants the garage space.

I need to organise collection of the engine/box that are waiting for me at the Chevronic Centre... David, I'll talk with you about it this weekend down at Stu's!

Having fallen foul of the law using a 0.5m too long towrope towing my cx, I was informed by plod that a rigid tow obviated the need for MOT, tax and insurance as towed vehicle was unable to move independently as it could on the end of a rope. Eventually went to court where I argued tax unneccessary as returning from MOT (6 months after appt. but had lain at garage for intervening period!(honest, just prove otherwise!)). I think they got fed up arguing with me in the end. Martyn.
By the way, how do I change my username to my real name?
