I have told him but hes not wanting to spend money on it, and has left it upto me to sort it, the MOTs out now so I need to do something with it. Im trying to work out the easiest and cheapest way of saving it from being broken up for parts whcih will happen if theres a £200 MOT bill.

Sounds like he's given up on it. Any use to you, Tim? I mean, to help keep your 16v on the road? Or is it really nice and well worth saving in which case why doesn't he offer it up for sale?

To be honest phil, besides the crumpled rear quater and that catalyst problem the cars a better car than mine and had a full service including cambelt not a monthe before it has the bump and the bodys nice too.

Im waiting to see what Martin my friendly mechanic says about fitting the cat, its a reasonably straight forward job its a case of cut out the old one and weld in the new one I hope which shouldnt take that long

The cat is the same size and a slightly bigger bore so will active as sleeve, and we already have the cat and its only costing £20 to have it fitted its worth a go!

That will be handy for all the 16v cat brigade to know if they have future problems, might be worth bangin a post onto their site, could save a few cars that....

I think all cats do pretty much the same thing its just a case of getting one that you can make fit as we did.
