House is my parents up near Skipton, place called Helifield, about 1hrs drive from the Lake District. Not a cheap place to live unfortunately, but they do look nice those houses, & they are all different which makes a change for new builds.

Great dog, a bit yappy until she gets to know you, always getting stopped whilst out & about with her, as people just seem to love her. For those who dont know she is a minature schnauzer (i think thats the correct spelling?)

We go to Hellifield VERY regularly!!!!

In fact, we will be there tomorrow lunchtime, as we go to the railway station to see the Steam Specials take on water there! They do a cracking Bacon Butty in the Refreshment Bar on the platform when steamers are coming through, which is most weekends in Summer.

On out way to Hellifield tomorrow we're calling into Skipton to view that '88 plate BX 16RS off eBay!

Some beautiful property around there, my wife has always fancied us owning a house on Station Road, backing onto the railway!!
Need a Lottery win before that can happen!

Excellent idea, my dad is into steam trains as well. Infact last time i was up we saw an LMS, forget the name though....

We were probably there on the platform!! We've only missed one steam visit this year....which is another reason why I needed to get Monica back on the road for tomorrow. It's 60009 Union of South Africa, an ex-LNER A4 class "Streak" (same as the record-breaking 'Mallard') doing a trip from York over the Settle-Carlisle to Carlisle and return later in the day. Due to arrive in Hellifield at 1250 for water before departing at 1320. If your Dad's going, tell him to keep an eye out for Monica, and a couple with a 9yr old boy!

I daren't look at a beautiful CX too closely.....I would definitely want to own one again! (last one was in 85-86, a rust-infested silver Pallas that was SOOOOOOOO smooth!)

This one is a rust free Gti Turbo 2 (Swiss specification lhd), its even got a catalytic converter!!!

As some of you may be aware, due to oil starvation (reason unknown) the cam bearing cap (cambelt end) decided to play with the cam & both of them ate each other. Also noticed that it also ate a bit into the engine head as well, although i suspect thats not a problem.

I've recently picked up a replacment cam & bearing caps from Ken, is anyone able to help me get the blue beast up & running please? Frankly i've got no idea what to do & in what order to do it.

I cant drive it anyware as its now in pieces & to top it all off, the battery has gone flat. Other jobs it needs doing are the rear arm bearings (got the kit) & for some reason the rear washer doesnt pump water anymore, even though i tested it & it does work????

Any assistance gratefully received.....

Hmmmm....since the bearing and caps are line bored, it's quite likely that new cam and caps will not make it happy - it probably needs a replacement head

I've been told various things, it was mentioned that if i got a replacement cam & bearing caps that had a bit more room, then that might be a fix, but understand what you say though. New head is waaaaay tooooo much money & out of my expertise totally.....

Had a look at removing the old oil breather pipe, no bleedin chance, cant get at the thing, really annoying as i've got a brand new pipe to fit, anybody got any ideas on getting that pesky pipe off???

Thanks to Mat Fenwick for working on this beast, she actually managed to fire up eventually (after some ingenius method which eludes me), minus the intercooler etc....

Mat spotted damage to the head, so unfortunately a new cam wouldnt be any good, so a replacement head is required, anyone able to help with that?

A mammoth session of work on Saturday for Mat, i felt quite guilty as i was kinda passing the odd spanner etc....mind you my cleaning skills are now at their best by doing the rear calipers etc....

So she now sports 2 new rear arm bearings. There was some damage to a plate on the driver side anti-roll bar which meant Mat had to improvise to fix the damage so that the bolt could go through it properly.

Also spotted that some twat had fitted the incorrect rear brake pads, not sure which model they were off, but they were larger as they had wear ridges on the outside where they were too big. No probs as i had some correct spares which were duly fitted, along with new spindle bolts with dust shields & springs.

The hydraulic pipe to the pump managed to split itself, so a new one will be required. For some reason, even after we primed the pump with what seemd litres & litres of lhm, approx 5, the bastard just wouldnt rise, so not sure what the problem is, no lhm was pissing out anywhere, so there must be air in the system, but where could it be or getting in?

I was gutted that she's not back on the road, Mat did his best with the time he had, approx 8-9hrs So he earnt that CD player, i hope you enjoy it Mat & it gives you plenty of years of good service
