Got the car back this evening, new discs & pads fitted, they also replaced the dust shield on one side but informed me that the other one which was fitted about 2yrs ago was knackered, so when i change to my summer tyres i'll replace that as well.

I had a look at the old discs, they hadnt cracked, but one of them had the surface breaking up, hence the horrendous noise & brake judder, totally knackered. So another £47 to keep the heap on the road, not taking into account the £190 road tax for the year a day earlier. Fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong as i've got the mot due mid april....

Changed my winter tyres over to my summer tyres today. Also fitted a new dust shield to the driver side rear caliper. Managed to borrow a neighbours power washer so i could clean out all the crappy lhm that had pissed out & was covering the inside of the wheel arch, caliper, brake disc & anything else in the vincinity. It was great, hopefully the car wont fail its mot for leaky lhm as the car doesnt actually leak now, except near the fdv of course

Also cleaned the interior so its now spotless & also did the exterior, almost looks like new

Whilst i had the power washer, i cleaned the inside of all my alloy wheels to get rid of brake dust & grime, only the 3 sets I feel totaly fucked now & time for beddybyes

I got a new shiny Bosal rear exhaust box fitted today. Bad news was the price, it cost the garage over £46 I moaned & said i could have got one off e-bay for about half that. Owner said why didn't i, i said that i was quoted £30. Good news was that they agreed to £50 all in inc fitting, so i was well chuffed. I even got the pipes on the fdv tightened up whilst it was on the ramps as well

Funny thing though, was that when the rear box was attached, it was about a foot proud of the rear bumper, it was only a bleedin estate one So they cut the rear pipe down to size, so it actually looks a bit sporty. I did take a piccy on my phone of the large tailpipe sticking out, when i work out how to post it up on the forum, i will.

Lets just hope that the middle box lasts, as that looked a bit crusty, i may be on the look out for a bargain sooner rather than later.

Also noticed quite a bit of engine oil coming out of the back of the engine, couldnt pinpoint where it was coming from, but i suspect it may be the rocker cover gasket at the rear, as the front is bone dry. Is this a typical place for it to go at the back? Could do with a damn good steam clean to then see where its really coming from to pinpoint all leaks if there's more than one. At least with the exhaust i'm motoring again

Thanks to Kevan (Defender110) for welding up the inner wings on my car.

Fitted the rear light clusters with the green tint, as i've always wanted some. All i need to do now is track down the blue & the red one's & then i'll have a complete set

Kevan kindly spotted that the driver side outer cvjoint boot had split, so local garage sorted that out for me today, £45 later, its all adding up this year

Fitted a 2nd hand stereo to the car this evening, couldnt get it to fit correctly so it kinda sticks out, i'll have another go when i've got time, i think its just some wires getting fouled up. Thought i'd spotted why the psgr front speaker wasn't working, re-wired it up & it still didn't work I think i'll have to get a pro to have a look (Where are you Ray ).

The stereo is absolute crap tbh, i got it off e-bay & its well used shall we say. The front panel is an absolute bitch to get back on once removed, its also split on the back & even worse one of the metal contacts was fucked, so luckily i've managed to repair that, so now it works, & at last i can play cd's which the other one stopped doing sometime ago Plus side to the crappy stereo was that it didn't cost me a fortune, about £20 & low & behold there was a cd in it That's the 2nd one i've bought with a cd in it & a freebie i got also had a cd inside it as well, although kids nursery rhymes didnt sit well with me, so i returned that one

I've also over the last few days got the kurust stuff & painted any rusty areas i can see on the car & inside the engine bay & underneath the bonnet. Plan is to rub all these areas down & re-paint them to hopefully stop the dreaded rust from spreading. None of it's too bad, except the rear door shuts on both sides, but it does seem to spread if not controlled & seeing as i intend to keep this car for the forseeable future, i'm conserving the old gal best i can. Could do with waxoyling underneath as well, i'll have a look into getting a pro to do that.

I'm going to be doing that too, though brother is pretty handy with all that stuff, so I'll leave it to him, and stick to electrical bits

The car did a grand job last weekend, managed to house 2 mtb's with all the wheels attached, by dropping the rear seats down, sometimes wish i'd gotten an estate though as that would be an even better load lugger.

Thanks to sub777w, i fitted the y piece on top of the lhm tank. Damn thing was a tight fit, so i need to rebore it out a little more to get it to fit better, i'll borrow a drill when i can to get it sorted. I resorted to wedging & turning a screwdriver down it to get it to open up a bit. Nothings ever as simple as you think

Did an oil filter & oil change this evening, such cheap motoring Oil was £12.95 & filter about £4 & just my time.

Also hoovered the k&n air filter, quite amazing how much crap came out of it, so it's obviously doing its job well, this appears to be a regular thing that i do everytime i change the oil. Its not dirty enough to need washing & re-oiling just yet, perhaps in another years time or so.

Suspension is clonking a bit on driver side, it may be a bush or 2 on the suspension arm possibly, i've ruled out balljoint & droplink, as they've been done in the last year or so, i'll have to get the garage to have a look & report back to me, typical, more expense

mate boil a kettle chuck it in or in a cup with hot water for 30 secs .get it out with pioty nose pliyer wil fit no probs ,done it loads of times. cheers ps dont dril it its suppose to be tight fit.
