Would be interesting to have had a look at the list to see exactly what needed doing, i suspect welding was required in a number of places? Shame as on the face of it, it seemed ok apart from the bodywork rust.

Another annoyance occured the other day, whilst opening the bonnet, the lever snapped off in my hand Luckily there was enough room to get my hand inside & to pull on the bit so that i could open it up. I've attached a zip tie as a temporary measure so that i can access it more easly. I'll need to get a small bolt of some description to replace the one that has snapped.

you didn,t know already that VL is a Lincoln registration letters,
I know that when I worked at J R J Mansbridge-Lindum in Lincoln ( used
to be just Lindum Cars Ltd when I was there TL, VL, FE and FW were
all Lincoln registration letters. That,s the only place it could have
come from.

Didn't realise that Vince, cheers for letting me know. I purchased the car down in Cambridgeshire somewhere.

Frontlines changed the driver side strut with one of my 2nd hand one's from Wetherby. I've been getting an annoying clonking sound on the front driver side somewhere. I've had the suspension etc checked & there's nothing loose or anything which has free play in it, so i summasied that it must be a noisy strut.

Well, after changing it on Saturday @ £55 later (i was too ill to get it done & was worried as the clonking sound was getting louder & louder & didn't want to delay getting it done), the clonking whilst not quite as bad is still there Starting to get a bit annoyed, WTF could it be?

Also got the brake light switch sensitivity sorted again as the brake lights would only come on if i was braking hard, if i was just gently braking nothing was coming on

I was hoping to do the 138k oil service today, but ran out of time & light & was feeling a bit rubbish anyway, so i'll do that next weekend.

I did purchase an Ultrasonic cleaner today from Maplins, so have started cleaning car parts already 1st impressions are good, i need to get some proper sea clean fluid to attack rust etc...but just using tap water with some detergent has already seen quite impressive results. It holds approx 1.8 litres of water, so i can get quite largish bits in such as calipers & fdv's etc...Not that i've done any of those yet, just been doing wheel bolts & various oily & rusty nuts & bolts, clips & a rubber hose.

Look forward to doing more cleaning as i find more dirty bits & bobs. What i was going to try was to clean the rear light lenses as they always get crud in them which is almost impossible to get at, i'm hoping the ultrasonic cleaner will blitz them & make them look like new. I promise to take some before & after pictures to show results

Today in the freezing cold i changed the oil & filter & also hoovered the K&N air filter, mileage 138508. Total cost under £12

Noticed the rear number plate bulb was out, so went to Hellfrauds & bought a pack of 2 for £2.99 & replaced the bust one. Noticed that this new one was brighter than the other old working one???

I was going to, then thought NAH!! It wouldn't look right if they were both the same brightness, it looks like a proper old car with odd lights

Thanks to Paul for continuing to sort out rust & paint on my car, nearly getting to concourse condition and good to meet up with BXMeteor (Brian). Gave me a quick course in how to use a multimeter, i hope i remember Brian kindly checked my stereo wiring & everything appeared find except for a loose connection, so now i have a working stereo, hurrah Can't wait to blast out some tunes.

Whilst doing an lhm change on Paul's car today, i undid the psgr side front caliper bleed nipple a bit much & got absolutely cover in lhm At least it got rid of the hydraflush that was still in there along with any other crap

I really hate those rear bleed nipples, both were bloody tight again especially the driver side rear, i struggled to get it moving even with mole grips I suggested that some new one's should be bought & i'll copper slip the buggers before putting them in, hopefully that'll stop them from being a pain to shift again.

Asides from losing a nut (so i had to remove one from my tzd) to replace the one that went behind the alternator & the dodgy wrong wheel bolts which rounded off on the psgr side wheel, everything went quite smoothly Got there in the end, decent weather made it so much easier to do, it was quite nice in the sun.

Yep - I think I might have been a bit too enthusiastic on the brake pedal there - I heard Matt scream, 'get your foot off the brake pedal!' before he appeared at the passenger window absolutely drenched in LHM - I think in certain circles that's what's called, 'the money shot'!!?

Door shuts looking pretty solid on that TXD now - just needs lacquer and black on the sills. That car could look as nice as it runs with a bit of TLC and ALOT of car shampoo! I'll clean it myself if push comes to shove.

A real pleasure to meet Brian too (BX Meteor). He has a day off from being pedantic on Sundays, so we went up to the motor factors to buy masking tape instead.
