Perhaps he meant transfer box, not gearbox in the advert.

does anyone know how many of these are left? am quite tempted especially as no-one seems to be biting and as it would be a second car that would only get used when the mood takes me the 4x4 issues shouldn't be too much of a problem I would have thought, spares availability for when it does though could be an issue.

I was offered a 4x4 estate for £100. But it needed an exhaust and could I find one? Could I heck.

ahh no way, that would have been one hell of a bargain...you could have had a stainless one made for it but then that would take away the cheapness I guess, this one's got a new exhaust anyway though so that shouldn't be a problem but still that is a bit worrying and it would be my first BX, i'll see what happens.
