The big let down on the Vauxhall clutch on every one I have ever been in of that era was...

yes. the bloody creak of the pedal. Mine (astra), my girlfriend's (cavalier), my flatmate's boyfriend (cavalier) & my mate Mev (cavalier SRI 130).

If it squeaks then it means you need to get busy with the grease.

But better that something squeeks a little than having to recall more than 4,000 VW Golfs due to poor electrics which could catch fire?

BX's can also last quite well too. 1993 BX 19TXD Estate, 182,250 & counting. Still on original clutch, and Starter. Alternator replaced. Both drive shafts replaced at 175,000. N/S damage when wife forced off road, so changed both as I was able to source a pair quite cheap. It never fails to start or stop, the original Citroen battery lasted 9 years.

I agree about the Xantia, dreadful car after the BX, ditched mine after 9 months. Mind you the BX would have benefitted from being nearer the Xantia's dimensions.

Fixorised.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
