I presume the number plate is for show only? Having the "F" indicating France on a GB registered car is not legal. Nor is the font.

I can't say whether they look good or bad. I think they look illegal.

I would be careful Tim, anything with non-standard font may not be as readable by speed cameras and the like, so the police do seem to be cracking down on such plates. I'm not trying to say that's the reason you have them, but IIRC it's a maximimum £1000 fine!

True, why issue a continuous invitation for plod to give you a 'pull' ? :?

There may then be other issues that they discover & note on their clipboard! :(

The car is very much in a roadworthy legal condition, as for the plates yes they are show plates and I do have some UK spec ones. Either way let me wory about it!

As do I, on vehicles legally permitted to display them.

That fiesta just looks stupid and illegal with them on.

Curious though Tim, for one who desires original style seats, wheeltrims etc that your attention to detail does not extend to original style number plates! :o

Jeez, Will you lot chill out! There seems to be serious lack of sense of humour round here, at the end of the day its my car and it suits me! If you dont then thats up to you, if I get pulled for my plates then you can enjoy doing the "told you so thing" cant you.

The GT I think looks very "of the period" with the french style plates and the yellow foglamps, but if the next owner (if it ever has one) wants they can thrown them in the bin as I have a set of plain UK ones and the figlamp paint comes off with thinners.

The most important thing is surely that car is cherished? as is the TRS with its P2 rear lamps and wheeltrims. Both of which can be cahnged back within minutes.

I dont see you giving Matt H grief yet he has the same plates on his very far from original but loved 14TGE or Doc for making his TD look like a valver?

Not legal.

Legal.

Changing the style of your car and staying within the law is one thing. Making it unlawful is another.

I don't know, surely on a car like that, and with your reputation, originality is everything.
I think like yellow and white number plates on a 50's/60's car that kind of thing sticks out like a sore thumb and actually spoils the looks because it takes the eye off the rest of the car.
We're not all going to see eye to eye all the time but let's not start taking things personally and resorting to single emoticon answers, or we won't have learnt from the past will we?

There was a different and I believe, legal font used on UK cars in the early 80s - a similar sort of mildly squared off font that looked quite special on a proper 80s barge.

Anyone recall what it was called? AFAIK you can still get it from specialists today.
