Re: Talking B____X
That looks lovely. What's going on with the wiper?!
I'd really like to try a diesel auto. I'd imagine it'd be like my old Merc 300D (W123). Slow as hell, but kind of relaxing.

Re: Talking B____X
The wipers are secured off the screen (the car's been SORN in a garage for quite a while) to stop them sticking. That's what I think. More info as I get it...
Expect the car to be picked up in two to three weeks. I'll be there at the collection so can take some pics.

Re: Talking B____X
Look an 'old' design to me... There's something quite 'wintery' about the tread... who knows? Anyway...
That shot was taken about three years ago apparently. The car's been SORN for longer than that, so I imagine the tyres might need 'looking at'... amongst other things

After all that, have decided to let someone else have a bite of the cherry. Post-Challenge austerity, plus other requirements mean, once my BX-goggles are removed, it's a non-starter...

I think this has gone to a member, not sure.
On another note, I have bought a Peugeot. Sorry.

806 SVDT. Top spec. Ex-dealer demo (from around the time of the launch of that version) so has lots of toys. Nice, comfortable interior; electric windows, seats and twin sunroofs etc. CD changer, 8-speakers ... Would have preferred it to be a Citroën Synergie, but hey. All made in the same factory in NE France.
Having a new clutch and cam belt today.

Re: Talking B____X
Ok, I suppose I can retract the Boo-ness. A friend of mine at work has a very early one, and tbh I quite like it. He has the 2.0 petrol though, doesn't seem to struggle to pull a wagon load of blokes to the pub by any means!
If I were going for a people carrier style car I would have a MK1 Espace V6 with those awesome alloys that you get on the fuegos too. But I can't remember the last time I saw one. I remember these being quite unreliable and having paint peeling issues too.

Re: Talking B____X
I did consider a Mk 2 Espace (and that was a 2.0 Petrol - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-ESPAC ... 0611239777" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ), but the Synergie/Ulysse/806 bus is much, much more robust. Pretty glad with ours so far, but pi**ed off about the clutch.
Although supposedly fitted in January, the clutch is fubar. I need a new one - a higher quality one that the feckin' cr*p one that's in there. The guy down the road (who I trust) is fitting it and making sure it all works tickety-boo for £350 all in. I asked him to do the cam belt first as it seems to make sense... ouch
But all in, should make it a good family bus. I'll get the air con regassed soon and I've found a guy (a professional mobile window tinting service) who'll do UV 70% tint film on the two rearmost side windows for £50. That's always a good idea in my book. Not a fan of putting film on the rear window though, so a wide sunblind there. Just need some more money!
Pics to follow.

Re: Talking B____X
I did try looking for a MK1 a while back (with my tastes I'd like a base spec 1.4), but they seem at least as rare as Mk1 BX's. I did see a few in France during the Challenge, so if you really, really wanted one you could try over there. If I were going for a people carrier style car I would have a MK1 Espace V6 with those awesome alloys that you get on the fuegos too. But I can't remember the last time I saw one.

Re: Talking B____X
I too like the early Espace. I delivered one - quickly - from London to Edinburgh in 1988 when it was a real novelty vehicle, before the surge of 'people movers.' It seemed really modern, fast and smooth with a carphone too - something that I'd never seen.
There's this one for sale in Germany, being sold by an enthusiast and in excellent order he claims.

Re: Talking B____X
Did they do the Mk1 Espace as a V6? Thought that only came in with the Mk2? Happy to be proved wrong though. One of those would be lovely.

Re: Talking B____X
Just been surfing leboncoin - the Espace Mk1's on there all seem to be either 2 ltr petrols or diesels (turbo & N/A), but I have changed my mind about my favorite model - I'd have a Quadra 4x4 model!

Re: Talking B____X
I agree - a Mk. 1 Espace has a curious appeal. Wonder what the equivalent BX would've been? Hang on...
