Check the noise levels on the Goodyears. The only ones I had on my 14RE (GT70s' I think) were so loud they almost drowned out the radio, never again for me. I can vouch for the extreme quietness of the current Energy Saver though... which I am well pleased with.

Thanks for the heads up... I think I shall go for Michelins anyway thinking about it... After all it'd make no sense to have the Michelin stickers on the car come the Challenge if I didn't lol!

Re: Talking B____X
Great touch with the 'BX Club', makes a pleasant change from the usual supplying dealer/factor rubbish.
Be careful with the number there may be members of a certain band after that plate - 808 state? ....

Re: Talking B____X
Got 175/65/14 Michelin Energys all round, fitted for £240. Good value I'd say. Just a few jobs to do... rear arm bearings, spheres, pedal box, fix LHM weep, you know, the usual stuff (groan...) but getting there.

Re: Talking B____X
Good price, (for the tyes), that is exactly what I'd pay at the best local place round here - all the chains are more. Hopefully all you hear now is the induction roar from that turbo.....

Re: Talking B____X
Is the pedal box a precautionary measure? It would probably make sense to renew the clutch cable at the same time, as the major battle in that job is unclipping and re-clipping the cable onto the pedal. And the clip on a used cable is (even) more reluctant to snap into place...
Re: Talking B____X
If it aint broke, dont fix it as as Mat says it can be problematical to refit the clutch cable. If you do replace the cable, go for one with a white plastics clip to the end nearest your food foot and dark grey or black ones seem to be reluctant to clip in properly and make it a bastard job to do. Its a bastard job anyway so dont do it unless you have to.mat_fenwick wrote:Is the pedal box a precautionary measure? Can you see the pedal box moving? Again, if its not, why make a whole lot of work for yourself. They are known to split but they dont all do it.

Re: Talking B____X
It's only a possibility at the moment as the gas pedal seems at a slight angle... But I'm not going looking for work! With the pedal down to the floor there's no extra travel in the arm on the pump so it's probably ok.
Main issues are: rear arm bearings are worn so a bit unstable at the rear over bumps mid corner. The accumulator clicks like mad sometimes but have a brand new sphere to fit so could be ok. Slight LHM leak needs fixing. LHM is a bit dirty so that needs replacing and filters cleaning. The spheres - especially on the rear - need a regas (or replacement). Brakes don't feel quite right and the expected anti dive feature of the BX under braking isn't there - it stops ok but something needs looking at as it pitches quite a lot under firm braking. The engine seems fairly gutless at the moment and although the turbo kicks in and there're no horrible noises or smoke I feel it's got more to give.
So a few things to deal with.
